Pattaya: Hanging cables ablaze outside 7-Eleven - fire crews save houses

8pm1.jpg

Fire broke out yesterday in Soi Nern Plap Wan, Nong Prue in front of a branch of 7-Eleven.

A huge tangle of cables was ablaze.

Firefighters managed to turn off the power and use foam to extinguish the fire before it spread to adjoining houses.

A picture on the 77kaoded site showed officials from various cable companies trying to untangle the mess following the blaze.

Spaghetti junction... they're everywhere here ????

It's no doubt part of the city's CCTV fibre optic cable system that's at fault here.

How very fortunate it will save the need for an in-depth investigation that was mooted last week regarding upgrading the CCTV network.

Installing a new network will guarantee this will never happen again.

Oh my, how will they ever rehang them wires so fast to restore all services?

That, and other, wiring mess should not be allowed in this day and age...????

Good chance if they remove the redundant cables then there might only be 5 or 6 to go back up.

Ooh, I couldn't manage another one.

Those cable guys actually do a good job of rehanging/reconnecting that bunch of wires.

I wish I could get back in country and hear that sound before too lone.

My son-in-law/daughter visit me periodically.  He is a Health & safety Officer at a UK Company.  He takes hundreds of photos of the cable-tangles to illustrate his How-not-to-do it lectures given to 16 year old apprentices.

I don't see overhead cables or wires in Malaysia and Singapore. Is it too expensive for Thailand to have them wires lay underground?

How deep do you have to dig for cable laying anyone in this business knows?

No doubt a member of the "Beautify Pattaya" team removing the unsightly mess in preparation for burying the cables ????

We don't know how much we love the 7 11 door noise till we had to leave the place forever. I'd even be happy living next to an all night karaoke if it meant I was there, instead of here.

It's called a Tom Jones fire

Is it common??

Well, it's not unusual.

Most of them were probably un-used after being replaced. They never take the old ones down.
