BRUSSELS (Reuters) - The head of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, said the COVID-19 epidemic in Europe was again worrying and it remained necessary to remain focused on tackling it.

"The epidemiological situation is worrying. So we must stay very focused to avoid a return to the dire situation we experienced last spring," von der Leyen told a news conference after a meeting of EU leaders in Brussels.

She said the EU was making progress in acquiring potential vaccines against the new virus. "Progress on vaccines is the key to a long-term solution to this crisis," she said.

Learn to live with it, it isn't exactly the bubonic plague.

Wait until you catch it and read about the many long term effects of this virus on “survivors”, including on the nervous system. It is easy for you to say. If you had lost someone to it or had a loved one in critical condition at the hospital, you might look at it differently. Such callousness is really unbelievable.

That's something you would say about a chronic sinus infection that has become resistant to antibiotics, but not about a virus that has killed a million people. You die from it, try to get it under control, but live with it.
