Rainstorms are set to lash most of Thailand from Wednesday to Friday this week (October 7-9) as a tropical depression covers the country.

The Meteorological Department said the depression is expected to become a storm on October 6 and reach Vietnam on October 7. It will move into the Gulf of Thailand on October 8.

Heavy rain will fall in the lower Northeast, as well as the East, Central and South regions, while waves in the Andaman Sea and the Gulf will whip up to between two and four metres.

Fishermen are warned to stay ashore from October 7 to 10 while people who suffer storm damage can contact the 24-hour national emergency hotline on 1182.

Sounds utterly terrifying.  Batten down the hatches folks. I hope the Bangkok Metropolitan district has cleaned the drai n s so the flooding is minimized.  Same for Pattaya and other Areas as well.

Mabprachan in Pattaya has gone up 1% from 30 to 31 with the rains last week. Need more, a lot, lot more or it'll be a bone dry 2021. Bring it on.

We are in the lower North so may not get another lashing...not that there is anything wrong with a good lashing now and then...  but every container and drum and tank we have is full of water so all it can do is cause flooding which is annoying and destructive.

A rain season that won't go away!

By the end of July we were in drought mode, now we are in swamp mode, and it could get worse.

With La Nina in full swing, we may "enjoy" this kind of weather until the end of the year...

and there was i hoping to water my garden thursday.

Where I am, in Kalasin Province, it's been the best rainy season in years. Rain on probably 80+ per cent of the days since May and only one or two damaging storms. As I pump my water from underground it's comforting to see, although having said that it hasn't been a problem in previous 'dry' rainy seasons.

We are heading to Jomteim  this Thursday i hope all is ok? The trip is necessary!

Take a lot of rain the bring the motorway to a standstill so you should be OK.

If it hammering when you get to Pattaya be Wary of Suk road before the Pattaya Tai insection as that does flood and deep and you'd be best to take the new exit to U-Tapao motorway  and head out that way taking the first exit and come back into Jomtien from the other end.

Started already here in Bangkok. This was 4 pm in Bang Na.

Bhumibol dam up in Tak on the Ping river, which joins wth the Nan river to form the Chao Phraya river at Nakhon Sawan, is only 38% full and the lowest it has been for at least 3 years.

It stands at 5137 million cubic metres and the lowest it should be at this time of year is 7,832 million cu/m.

Bad spelling

Get ready for more of this, which was about a week ago.

The Pattaya desert could use a whole lot more rain. It's not that it's been a dry rainy season like last year, but so much of it has either been very light stuff that doesn't even wet the roads, or else a torrential downpour that wastes most of the rainwater as runoff. We could really use a week or four of steady, persistent rain.
