Mike Tyson sparks concern with 'uncomfortable’ Good Morning Britain interview

Mike Tyson has sparked concern among Good Morning Britain viewers after a bizarre interview on Tuesday morning’s ITV show (13 October).

 

The heavyweight legend appeared to be slurring his words and breathing heavily in the live TV appearance. He could also be seen repeatedly touching his head, closing his eyes and dropping his head.

 

Presenters Piers Morgan and Susanna Reid were undeterred, continuing the conversation despite long pauses and short answers.

Its a shame Mike won't be fighting Piers Morgans. I'd pay to see that

If I had to talk to Piers Morgan, I'd probably be behaving in exactly the same way. 

He's going the way of so many boxers before him, brain damage. Piers Morgan is an a###hole that enjoys preying on people when they are down.

He's not boxed in years and is a lot more intelligent than the 90s image you remember him by.

 

Tyson is currently in training for an exhibition with Roy Jones and looks in excellent shape. A quick time difference check suggests he was probably knackered at the end of hard days training and the last thing he needed at that point was Piers Morgan grilling him via Zoom. This is a 50 something year old man putting himself through physical torture every day. He's just tired. 

He also is in the marijuana producing business....

 

Possibly enjoying samples ?????

Get real, a hard days training does not do this to you, he's spaced out, doped up. Mike is well known for his drug and drink habits, many of his top fights were conducted while he was high on cocaine. He even admitted to being high on cocaine on the movie set while filming "The Hangover"

That was years ago.

 

Look, my posts on here are few and far between. I don't pretend to be an expert on coronavirus, politics, etc etc. One thing I do follow very closely, I would venture to say closer than the majority of TVF posters (and that's OK) is boxing.

 

I have no allegiance to Tyson, but it is pretty common knowledge he has turned his life around and been a family man for years. He is now more likely to get pleasure from his daugher's academic achievements than any drug fuelled rampages... however! While I don't believe he drinks much, he does smoke a lot of weed. Entirely legally. I am ready to believe he was really stoned, and this, along with his eccentricities and tiredness made him act that way.

 

I personally don't believe he is punch drunk.

He does smoke a lot of weed. That's probably what it was.

I saw him talking to joe rogan(i think) quite recently. He said hes not smoking or doing any psychedelics because , something along the lines of ... serious about the fight and puts him in the wrong frame of mind. He said he was really missing the pot though. I feel ya Mike i'm missing it too.

Ah OK... interesting to hear he has knocked it on the head for this 'fight'. Maybe Piers Morgan caught him having a weed relapse lol.

 

One thing worth pointing out, which I'm sure you know but that many of the posters on here may not if they haven't kept tabs on Tyson, is that he actually credits weed with making him a lot more conscious, chilled out, and basically not keen to rip anyone's head off anymore. We might be seeing the old Mike come back for Roy Jones!

This was back in july...i know its only bags and a bit of pad work but damn he looks great to me at 54

I never insinuated he was under the influence of cocaine or drink, that was just pointing out his previous. What I did say was he was "spaced out, doped up" which is in keeping with his weed consumption.

 

I do hope he has turned the corner on his previous habits but I have my doubts, by his own admission in March this year in an interview with Eminem he states he's a "relapse specialist" for relevance the youtube link here at around the 39 min mark

I did see that Eminem video... Personally in today's goldfish bowl I don't think he could get away with anything approaching his previous excesses. If you've read his book, some of the stuff he used to get up to was insane! 

 

AFAIK he is a family man who smokes weed, and is still eccentric in the way he speaks but no longer unhinged like he used to be. 

He was asleep with his eyes open . Time difference meant he should have been in bed .

Nothing to see here .

I haven’t seen the interview, but the description sounds very much like opiates to me. 

 

Further to this video Roy Jones Jr is now pushing for a 1 am fight ????

They just caught him at a bad moment. Looks like he has not had any sleep. Hope he is fine, the world needs this delightful man. And he looks alot better than Jones Jr. He has been training hard. Iron Mike!
