Progressive Movement to be investigated for actions related to local elections

Thailand’s Election Commission has set up a committee to investigate the conduct of the Progressive Movement, which is accused by political activist Srisuwan Janya of functioning like a political party.

According to Srisuwan, the Progressive Movement’s three leaders, namely Thanathorn Juangroongruangkit, Dr. Piyabutr Saengkanokkul and Pannika Wanich, have helped campaign for their members contesting mayoral and council member Provincial Administration Organization elections in several provinces, in violation of Section 111 of the Political Party Act.

If true, the movement would be functioning like a political party, which is against the law, according to Srisuwan.

Yes, yes, everybody knows already, everything except kowtowing to the rulers of the nation is against the law in Thailand.

Guess the government is already in deep negotiations with their Chinese friends to get more huge loans from them. This time to finance the building of new prisons, in be able to jail the vast and steadily growing number of political opponents who are fed up with the system here.

Will the all out assault and persecution never end.  These folks just despise anyone not like them. So un-Buddhist of them.  Oh yeah I forgot they say they are Buddhist but do not act like it. Trying to beat everyone into submission just won't work even if you jail them all. It will just make more martyrs for the cause.

We love them all the same. Unless they don't prostrate.

Obviously the regime is afraid of the people, and the land of compromise is about as accurate as the Land of Smiles.

I wonder what the international take is on this and what's being said at international meetings about Thailands government strategy and so called democratic rights.

You thought the military were the best thing since sliced bread after the coupe ??

I'm glad you had an epiphany since then and that the scales have fallen from your eyes.

I was hoping they would turn out good and also said that if they didn't I would be the first to criticize them and I was true to my word, I always said "give them a chance" - they had it and failed

At the time the PT party were not much better - they are all corrupt to the core
