Journalists reporting fake news could face legal charges

Featured Replies

The Ministry of Information requested action be taken against any media outlets publishing fake news that could cause widespread panic. Information Ministry spokesman Meas Sophorn said yesterday that the notice is intended to remind journalists in Cambodia, especially on online media, to act with professionalism and respect the law.

Executive Director of the Cambodian Journalists Alliance Nop Vy said that professional media who break the law should not be punished, but rather be educated about the constitution in an effort to avoid violating the rights of journalists.
