Hi all on the Forum

I will be arriving in Thailand on the 17th November 2026 and will be staying for 35 days the flights are booked now .

As the 60 day Stamp will be scrapped 15th September and reverted back to 30 day stamp i was looking for advice as i do not want to overstay the 30 day stamp so it seems the only option is a Tourist Visa for the extra 5 days .

Does anyone have any other ideas how i could extend by another 5 days that would be possibly granted ie would Visa Extention work or possible it be denied after 30 day stamp.

Tourist visa or 30 Day VE + 30 day extension.

Preferably I'd opt for the TV as it can be obtained online.

Thank you for your advice i think although only 5 days extra needed the Tourist Visa would be best way to go as the 30 day Extention i'm not sure is guaranteed either.

Not sure what a tourist visa will cost you, but a 30-day extension to your visa-exempt entry will cost 1900 baht.

It will also require you to prepare the necessary docs for it, the main one being the TM30 for where you are staying. (At least in Bangkok immigration will want one.)

And then, depending on which office you'd be applying for the extension, you might be turned away and asked to return on such-and-date. Potential to mess with plans.

If you don't mind all that it should be fine. But getting an actual tourist visa is not a bad solution. Once in the country, no interaction is needed with officialdom until you are exiting at the airport. Easy in, easy out. A 'visa in hand is worth more than an extension in the bush' is one way of putting it.

yes good point about the Hassle ,

I think the TV is best solution

Keep it Simple like you state "easy in easy out "

And I was going to edit my response to include this comment, but seeing your post I'll add it here.

You say 'flights are booked'. OK, and I assume your flight departing here is five days after the 30 days you'd get in an exmpt entry.

Possible issues. Your airline on leaving for Thailand might ask to see your onward flight ticket out of Thailand. Because on a 30-day exempt entry, Thai immigration officers can ask you to provide a ticket out, onward ticket, that departs Thailand prior to the end of the 30-days entry they are prepared to grant you. They may ask you, right there, 'book another flight', leaving within 30 days. That's not going to be fun or a nice way to start the trip.

You don't need to deal with any of this stuff if you've got a 60-day tourist visa. You're covered. That is the way to go. And yep, it is the 'KISS' approach, which I try to follow, ha!
