BANGKOK (NNT) - Prime Minister and Defense Minister, Gen. Prayut Chan-o-cha, has expressed his concerns about the increasing number of COVID-19 cases in Samut Sakhon province, but remains confident of the government’s ability to handle the situation.

Gen. Prayut, together with the Deputy Prime Minister and Public Health Minister, Anutin Charnvirakul, and representatives of related agencies, had a video conference at Government House, Bangkok, to discuss the COVID-19 situation in Samut Sakhon.

The Prime Minister said he is very concerned about the rising COVID-19 cases in the province due to continuous testing. However, he is confident that the situation will be addressed, as state officials are working to the fullest and have all made sacrifices, while adhering to health protocols set out by the government.

The spread of COVID-19 must be contained among migrant workers, illegal workers and other groups. The Prime Minister also expressed concern over the health condition of the Samut Sakhon Governor, who tested positive for COVID-19. He praised the governor’s performance and offered words of encouragement.

This morning, the Prime Minister showed his COVID-19 antigen rapid test result, to confirm that he is not infected and that the Interior Minister and the Director-General of the Department of Disease Control are safe.

The Prime Minister reminded health workers, particularly those in the front line, to take precaution, and that he is worried for everyone. He instructed relevant units to check if migrant workers are still being smuggled into the country.

There you have it in a nutshell ..... my concern is why there are not more reported cases upcountry, could it possibly be because there is no continuous testing ......???
