BANGKOK (NNT) - A shortage of blood reserves, has resulted from fewer donors coming to donate blood because of the pandemic.

To address the problem, the Royal Thai Army has brought in troops to donate blood, as well as invited people to make donations of blood, to help people in need.

Lieutenant General Piset Sirikasem พิเศษ ศิริเกษม, Director-General of Royal Thai Army Directorate of Civil Affairs together with Doctor Dootchai Chaiwanichsiriดุจใจ ชัยวานิชศิริ Director of the National Blood Center, announced that following the blood donations of 170 troops, the center will store the blood for use in an emergency.

Besides being available in emergency situations, the donated blood will also restore reserves that are currently low due to the COVID-19 pandemic that has been limiting the number of people who normally come to the center or hospitals to donate blood.

The Royal Thai Army also invited both members of the public and military forces to donate blood at any hospital under the supervision of the Royal Thai Army and the National Blood Center.
