How To Solve Woodprobleems

I bought some carved wood in thailand. A couple of pieces have spots that get loose like powder or very little pieces. The wood is not finished with any product. It could be teakwood.i t's light from colour and soft. I am talking about carved panels to hang om the wall.

Because I have a oakfloor and wood furnitures I have to be careful not to get any woodpredators in my home. Does anyone have any wise advice about this probleem?

Also what is the beste for the wood to wax or oil it or to varnish?

thanks for any advice.

I had BAD problems with wood worms, the little buggers :o ate the upstairs floor in my house.

It cost me about £1000 to replace it.

the local expert (an old man in the village) treated the new timber floor with a mixture of bug killer & diesel.

The timber was soaked in it for a week and then left to dry in the sun.

It stinks for about 4 weeks after fitting but now no smell and no bugs :D
