Thai PBS reported education minister Nataphol Theepsuwan as saying that schools in Bangkok, Samut Sakhon, Samut Prakan, Nonthaburi and Pathum Thani may only reopen next week with split groups or on certain days of the week.

The comments come as schools ordered shut in 28 provinces from January 4th to 31st are set to be allowed to start teaching on the premises with students again.

Nataphol said that each area will have an appropriate system and the best solution would be found.

Meanwhile in Bangkok governor Aswin Kwanmuang said that strict measures would be in place at 437 schools under BMA jurisdiction.

Restrictions on entry for outsiders will be in place and there will be screening and a ramping up of th Covid protocols like hand washing, masking wearing and the like. A "Big Cleaning" day in the capital's schools will take place tomorrow, the 27th.

Oh, I was expecting some doublespeak from the minister. Something like, "as long as no pupils attend."

Good luck to all those students.
