Starting the Entry Process

Featured Replies

I am just about to start the process my for entry into Thailand on a tourist visa.  I just want to be clear, I should apply for the visa first, before I apply for the COE, correct.  I plan on arriving early to mid March.  Do I need to show booking for ASQ hotel and Insurance for visa or just flight to Bangkok?  I did a test run on the COE site and it asks me to upload my passport (I expected that), then it asks to upload my covid insurance.  It looks like I need to buy first.  I plan to go thru Thai Consulate L.A.  Should I do the visa first or do both at the same time?

Things have been changing as far as procedures these last few months.

This thread has a lot of information of the changes and present day situations.

Right now, if entering under visa exempt, apply for COE.  If entering under Visa and COE, apply for Visa first.  IMHO.  555

“Apply for the visa first. If you are applying through https://www.thaievisa.go.th/ you will need to upload a flight reservation before you can complete the submission. This makes no sense at all, but that's the way it is.

Once you have your visa you then apply for your CoE here: https://coethailand.mfa.go.th/

To be accepted past the first stage of the CoE procecss, you need to upload proof of your covid19 insurance, which you can buy here: https://covid19.tgia.org/

You also have to upload your flight reservation and your ASQ hotel reservation. Once you have done that you will receive your CoE. Just the negative covid19 certificate and the fit to fly document needed to complete the process.”

What country are you applying in? All countries don't apply thru the same websites, it depends on your country I believe. I'm sure someone else will comment

Are you living with the LA consulate's area of jurisdiction? See map at the bottom of this page.

You start here for your visa application. https://thaiembdc.org/onlinevisaapplication/ Then after pre approved you send your passport by mail to where you are applying for it.

That visa application website for visas is only for those in the UK, France and China.

The OP is in the US.

ubonjoe, yes I live in California.  I will follow your link to start my Tourist visa application.  Can I at the same time apply for my COE or do I have to wait until I get my visa?

You can do both at at same time and the upload your visa when you get it. Best to have the ASQ hotel flight reservations done when you do it.
