jonwilly
Is it possible to travel through Samut Songkhram on either Route 4 coming via Nakhorn Pathom, or by coming down the multi carriage highway through Bangkok at this time ? john
northerner
I drove CM to BKK on Saturday - multiple checkpoints but not a single one was manned. Drove BKK - Nakhon Pathom - Cha-am today...zero checkpoints.
jonwilly
Northerner, Thank you for your reply. In the time since I first posted I have found that the route via Nakhon Pathom allows me to bypass the RED infected area around Samut Songkhram. I want to go down past Hua Hin to Prachuap Khiri Khan. Chiang Mai is not nice during the Smog/Burning season. john
HungDonger
I am making the same trip soon and have the same concerns. Nakhon Pathom seems like the way to go. I have taken that route previously with a group of us. Some took the Bangkok route and others came through Nakhom Pathom. Very similar times taken. khunphil
Well , I am planning on driving that road soon for a 1 week holiday, so if anyone did that , CNX-HuaHin, please be nice to report here. Also any checkpoint asking for Thai Chana, Mor Chana, or some traveling documents ? Cheers.

Plenty of tourist attractions and resorts West of Ratchaburi, we spent one night there on our way to Hua Hin in December.
Mahseer
Let me throw this in here as it may be of interest to those coming here. Just arrived Hua Hin from Chiang Mai (flew) and checked into the Hilton hotel and by the Thai wife booking on the government travel incentive app picked up a stunning deal. 80sq mtr one bedroom suite for 3 nights for a grand total of 7,800baht. That's total for the 3 nights but it gets better. Hilton gave us 1,000baht credit/day for in house spending plus they advised that the government gives us 900baht/day to be spent as we please which was accredited to an app. The latter gives 40% discount in participating restaurants/shops up to the 900baht. Similar deals available at other hotels I'm told.
