Car Ferry Samui Donsak

Is there any chance of a 24 hr car ferry to and from the mainland.

i can't count the amount of times i have got to donsak at 11 am and kewed till 7 pm and just made the last ferry.

maybe a few nice 5 star hotels built in donsak wouldn't be a bad idea. is samui keeps growing in population to get citizernship. then u might have ti kew for 5 days before getting to take your car or cargo to samui

until about 4 years ago there was only 1 ferry company raja ,and it was a nightmare no chance of going and back in the same day at least now you have seatran ,and you can book it at any bank of ayutaya ,just turn up 45 mins before the trip and get on its great

There is only one solution:

Built one more ferry pier in the south of Samui and let all the trucks going there.

I heard the municipality is thinking about this.

yes that would be a good idead but if u are away for aboout 5 days and you are not sure when u will be back then u have not choice but to cew up. last time i got to donsak at 11 am just about made the 7 pm ferry. it is a joke. if i turned up at 12 then i would be sleeping in my car till 5 am then still probabl nt make that ferry.

the other probably is that it become a street race from surrat to donsak. everyone knows that the car infront might make the difference btwn geting on or not. i have had to pull some manoovers myself.

qhwn you get of the fairy in donsak go to the ticket counter and buy a ticket reserve a place for the hour of your choice

for your return trip.

that way way yu arrive half an hour before and go directly on the fairy.

it isn;t that simple if u don't know what day u r comeing back. i herd that u can book on atm but i have had no joy

the only aswer is 24 hrs thenu can leave and come back to samui when ever you wish. there is anough business for it. for lorries and for both piers.

I took the Raja ferry today...very strange. I told them I wanted a one way ticket. He told us to back up and park in the lot before the first "booth" and wait. He then asked if we wanted a round trip. I said OK, and told us we could drive forward and get a ticket. Which we did and got on the ferry within 30 minutes. Crazy. I guess if you buy the round trip, you get right on.

I will try and make a reseration for the trip back, but like you, not sure what day yet....

With raja you can book a return ticket and usually get on the next ferry - but they only have a limiyed number of places for this option so you may still have to wait for an hour or so - As already stated it is much better to book with seatran - You have to arrive around 30 minutes before departure and can ammend your ticket up to 3 hours before departure - You can phone to book and then pay by ATM or at the bank . Operators speak english - easy ! You can also have a foot massage in a nice chair .

i always use Raja, i buy a return, when you get back to Donsak you go straight to the front of the que. i never have to wait more than an hour

Actually, there is a very nice 3/4 star and a number of bungalow style resorts in Kanom .. nearby.

hit and miss with me. sometimes i can drive straight on. the last time though. i got to the ferry at 11 am got the ferry at 7pm.

best thing to do. if you want to go to surrathani for the day then book the last ticket back. or if you want to go anywhere. work out the day u r coming back and pre book the last ticket.

saves you waiting in a que. u can mess about in suratthani if you are early. big C is alot cheaper there. stock your car up. save you the jopurney to tescos in samui the next day.

I just called Raja to make a reservation for tomorrow...they don't take reservations...at least that is what the guy on the phone told my wife. He said to just show up 30 minutes before to make sure you get onboard...we will be there an hour before! According to him, they run every hour, on the hour...
