Plus, at the very least, there should be a forum rule against repeatedly replying to your own threads in order to manufacture activity. If you’ve posted a topic and nobody is responding, quoting yourself and carrying on a conversation with yourself four, five, or more times, especially in a brand-new topic you’ve just created, isn’t discussion; it’s a spamming attempt to help the dull new topic gain traction, or to keep an otherwise dead or uninteresting topic alive, push it back to the top, and generate more eyeballs. It also creates the misleading impression that a thread is attracting significant interest simply because the OP keeps padding it with their own posts. An occasional bump is one thing; repeatedly talking to yourself to manufacture traction should not be allowed and should trigger immediate moderator intervention.
