Changing Tourist Visa

Featured Replies

In about 2 weeks, my Thai Tourist visa will expire.  I will have been in Thailand a total of 90 days.  Is it possible to change the Thai tourist visa to another kind of visa to stay longer in Thailand or is it necessary to leave the country after 90 days.

You can only change to a non immigrant visa if you qualify for one of them.

List here: https://www.immigration.go.th/en/?page_id=2537

You can apply for a 60 day covid 19 extension at immigration.

OP, apply for 60 day covid extension. Just recently announced they will continue to be issued till May 29. Obtain one soon and then another late May would give you ~4 months.

What kind of Tourist Visa?

The single entry TV that grants a stay of 60 days on entry, in which case you must have already applied for a 30 day extension, OR, the STV (Special Tourist Visa) which granted you a stay of 90 days on entry.

If the latter, (STV) you can apply for a further 90 day extension.

If the former, (TV) your already to late to apply for the Non O, but you could apply for a 60 day Covid extension.
