Bangkok Radio Stations To Be Shut After Ex-thai Premier Calls In

Thaksin is a dirtbag and will always be. His story is written. If anyone likes his genius, there are many other rotten historical figures who they might like too. Thaksin saw the deaths of many Thais under his administration while he filled his pockets 'helping' Thailand. If he's gone forever Thailand would be much better off.

Thaksin was not alone. There are lots of disgusting corrupt Thais who really worthless to the people of their country. Corruption is out of control here. Sadly a lot of people including foreigners quietly accept corruption and by doing so empower the corrupt. Corruption is the rape of society. Change will come for Thailand but with so many diehard bloodsuckers in Thailand that change might not come through peaceful actions.

:o

You two guys ever thought about visiting a shrink?

You should join them too, pay a visit to the optometrist on your way too. Looks like you can't see or comprehend things very clear from Sriracha.

*You're supposed to come up with something different when you respond, but nevermind...*

We all can see things nice and clear here in Sriracha,

thank you very much...

but as for Bangkok... well, things can easily tend to look rather muddled there...

That would be the happy ending, that the rich and educuted, who run the country will see that genie is indeed out of the bottle.

Even if Thaksin was as bad for the country as some people think he was - I won't argue that point here - he was a populist. If the upcountry poor, the majority, are ignored again, there will be other "Thaksins".

His populist platform was written by former communists. It is a genie out of the bottle, indeed, to a degree that communism empowers lower classes.

So - Would you say that Thaksin is something like a Hugo Chavez? Or a left-winger from USA?

Hugo Chavez is a diletant comparing to Thaksin.

Using communist propaganda to build political support for the richest capitalists in the country - that's the work of the genius.

When Chavez figures out how to privatise oil industry in HIS name and have millions of poor peasants cheer him on, or how to raise public funds to buy himself a football club, then he can humbly ask to lace up Thaksin's boots.

Actually I think the shrinks would agree with SJ Tony and the others. SJ can probably find this faster but there was a Thai psychiatrist who did a profile of Thaksin at a prominent university in Bangkok. Thaksin saw to punishing him for that. SJ can you dig that one up please, I think it applies in support of the closure.

"He urged quick elections and said the government does not have to worry about him as he will not travel near this region again," he added.

I suppose if I screwed a country out of billions of us$ I wouldnt want to go back to it either.

Especially if it's ruled by a military junta that's 100x greedier than me and 1000x dumber. Hope you guys realize what you're just saying, embracing a new military govt. that's only going to drive this country to it's misery.

Do YOU realize what you're saying?

Where did you get those figures on greed and dumbness?

INTERIM military government. Unlike Thaksin who was openly saying he'd still be ruling this country in 20 years from now :o (quite confident when one looks at the history and frequency of coups), these guys have promised elections within a year or so, and, that '' deadline'' is still 5 months away.

I would not go as far as you by saying that people are embracing an interim military government but welcoming the well needed temporary change they brought. There may have been some good coming from the previous government but nothing worthwhile of it's members mafia-like behaviour. It may take a few years but wait until more scams are exposed and someone tallies up how much money was wasted and stolen from this country in the last 5 years.

Tony, I hope that the new regime will get better, I really hope that from the bottom of my heart. But I just think that's not going to happen. The new guys come from a period of "hunger", not mentioning all the antideomcratic policy. Televiosion banning, much more internet blocking and now radio stations for some reasons that I find both idiotic and undemocratic.

I've lived under the communists until I was 10 and I still remember what that means. The military govt' brings with itself a very similar policy and it looks frightening and as for the elections...I'm 99.99% sure that they will be worthless and that someone from their gang will end up rulling the country, just unde a different name. Hence, they've already announced that they want to involve in the new govt, so practically, there will still be the very military junta running, only that this time they'll have a puppet to operate for them. Just look at how many losses has this coup brought until now, it's getting more scary everyday.

Again, I'm not a Taksin fan, I just think that the new guys suck big time and even more than he did.

I am willing to bet 5 Jack Daniel's bottles that the next few years will be some very, very hard years and that things will get really messy, I hope I'm wrong.

Thaksin banned every TV programme that had a moderator with an opinion different to his.

Newspapers were told they would have no advertising from AIS or any government agency if they criticised Thaksin.

Constituencies were told openly by Thaksin that if they voted for Opposition candidates they would have to wait for any budget available.

All community radio stations that expressed opinions opposing Thaksin wwre closed down or threatened.

All from a man who claims to be a democrat.

Thaksin 'sucks' the most, in the Thai expression because he 'sucked' MPs from other parties and in the western way he sucks the most because he pretends to be a democrat and a man of the people when all he really cares about his own ego.

PRD applies strict rules to control community radio stations

The Director-General of the Government Public Relations Department (PRD), Mr. Pramoj Rathavinij, has instructed the Public Relations Offices in all provinces to sum up the information concerning the community radio stations and their effects on national security and the violation of technical regulations. The Public Relations Offices can coordinate with the police and armed forces in arresting the community radio stations that have violated the laws immediately.

Mr. Manop Ampan, the Public Relations official in Nakhon Sawan province, says the PRD had a meeting with the National Telecommunications Commission (NTC) on May 28th to discuss the operations of community radio stations. Many stations are concentrating on business benefits rather than social benefits. Previously, community radio stations were launched to help publicize news to the local communities. Thus, the supervisors have to ensure that the operations are in line with the policy.

The Public Relation Offices are authorized to investigate and monitor the community radio stations to prevent illegal transmission. The radio stations broadcasting without licenses will be prosecuted.

The junta prefer driving backwards while staring in the rear view mirror; it's not easy. Like Mr. Bush in Iraq, with the military takeover of Bangkok they got themselves into a situation they have no clue how to get themselves out of. Their governing style can best be described as "clueless". Thailand suffers. If only the junta could be banned by the courts instead of legitimate political parties!

Yes President Bush has actually cut the deficit in half, lowest unemployment since the 1980's, a growing Hispanic and Black middle-class (the largest growth since the 1980's), freed 50 million people and gave them the right to vote and fights for what he believes in. You pathetic people (American haters, Bush haters [how dare America, Bush, stand up for what they, he, believes...he should be like the rest of us and ignore the worlds problems...Iraq, Afghanistan, Yugoslavia, Sudan...and we would like you Americans better). Anytime anything goes wrong in Thailand you want to bring the U.S. President and his policy into it...when there is no coorelation...Iraq actually voted for its government and their military did not overthrow it. Thailand is Thailand and is unique in every way. I have served in Iraq twice and I won't let some armchair gerneral like you try to compare the politics of my government and president to that of Thailand...for one thing, Thailand is a parlimentary system so if you want to compare it then compare it to England only in the power-sharing system that arises. Let go of your hate.
