Production of Whisky must increase to keep up with global demand. Unlike Wine, Whisky does not change in the bottle, so to become a fine Single Malt, the Whisky is left eight years and more before becoming available to the consumer. The longer it develops in the oak cask, the more valuable the Whisky will become. However, Blender companies also buy barrels of different age to blend their Whisky. Currently, Blended Whisky is the most exported out of the UK, but Single Malt is stepping up to the challenge.
