BANGKOK (NNT) - The National Health Security Office (NHSO) has asked private hospitals not to charge COVID-19 patients for treatment because it will be reimbursed by the NHSO.

 

NHSO secretary-general Dr. Jadet Thammathat-Aree held a video conference with private hospitals nationwide, to tell them that the NHSO has shortened the reimbursement period to 15 days and asked them to claim for COVID-19 treatment at the rate set by public health authorities.

 

He said for extra COVID-19 treatment expenses, not included in the NHSO’s list, it will consider including them in the list and will reimburse private hospitals later. Private hospitals were also asked not to send COVID-19 patients their bills, since they might think that they have to pay for the treatment.

 

Dr. Jadet said some private hospitals recently refused to provide COVID-19 testing to people, since they were afraid the NHSO would not reimburse them. During the video conference, however, private hospitals expressed their willingness to comply with the NHSO’s guidelines on COVID-19 treatment billing.

So in short .... does it say we  pay for a test .. and if positive  we don't pay ? Just Thai people I reckon..

We brought our child to Bankok Udon Thani Hospital.  He caught a cough from his aunt which turned out to be bronchitis.  

 

They charged over 10,000 baht for 3 of those disposable outfits for the nurses who took a Covid-19 test and then transported him to a room.  This is just for the disposable outfits for an hour.   The total bill was around 40,000 baht for two nights.

Not sure but think that most Private Hospitals are trying NOT to admit Covid patients

and you paid it??

As I understand this, it appears that the hospitals are charging patients for treatment that they can be reimbursed for by the government.

 A nice little earner, being fed by paranoia. I am not questioning your concern for your little one but just asking, because it was a cough, did you firstly think it may be Covid ?   So hence went to that hospital.  2 years ago what would you have thought ? perhaps he just has a normal cough perhaps ? Paranoia is making many people and companies a lot of money.  Now I have used that hospital in the past, a very good one indeed, but I never would waste my money going there for something as mundane as a cough as local clinics run by Doctors from the local government hospital are a far better and cheaper alternative. But back to that bill, absolutely staggering. Hope your child gets over his cough soon.

I wonder if any of them got the message tough to hear anything when you are rolling on the ground laughing your butt off!????
