Just to inform anyone who's interested, We have not been raided by Immigration, No musicians have been arrested and fined, and nor has the management been fined 200,000 Baht. We have not had Live Music for weeks now due to low season, and when we do our performers have work permits, so a raid would be pointless anyway. Who the hel_l started this story and why is beyond me. To those who have dropped by to ask about it, thanks for your support. Here endeth the official press release.

The rumour section? I can't find that one!

My mother told me never listen to rumours, so I wore out my copy of Tusk...

maybe it came about from the immigration raid on the Tropicana in bohpud where the guy did not have a work permit, nor indeed had ever left Samui for a few years. in deep trouble i suspect.

So if you are the owner o a bar & have a work permit you can't serve behind the bar?

I think what Jet was saying was that even if you are the owner and have no work permit you are not allowed to do any kind of work. Doesn't matter if you are the owner or not. But, I believe that if you do have a work permit you are allowed to work behind the bar.

Anyway, this thread just goes to show the power of unsubstantiated rumors gone wild

Emphasis on NO WP!

Thats in no Country in the world possible, except one work for the FL Sierra Leone or in where ever nowhere.

Been working WITH A WP for many, many years NEVER had someone even trying to hassle... around, same with my BV-Status...after more than 12 years, first time I left the Country... the Immigration Officer almost went into a fit... but that was entirely up to him! :o

Did any Job that was coming up in the Hospitality, Catering, Tourism related Industry... one day Mr.Chonrak (a couple a years ago Major of the Immigration Dep. southern Thailand & Samui maybe someone remembers him), was present as a guest, including driver and "Bodyguard", the Restaurant full to the brim, he got out of his Uniform Jacket, sleeves up and he HELPED serving and cleaning away ashtrays, plates, glasses!!!! "I did this when I was at the Academy!" and a big smile was his only reply... TiT

So do it right and s.h.i.t. won't happen, don't and it will 100% any day... one can count on it..

You got me thinking too hard, Samuin. K Chonrak...was he the one with the beautiful ring -- kinda coral or something? Very pleasant man? Now plain clothes? Is that militant-looking woman still there -- very nice also, but very matter of fact. Sorry, lightly off topic, la. It's just that once you were on the island for so long, you got to know Immigration for DL papers and such.

1. PR

2. Revenge

3....those 2 always come to mind. If #1 isn't true........

But could be wrong, of course.
