Blown apart: Cambodia suffers two tropical storms and a monsoon

Featured Replies

It looks like Cambodia is going to have lots of rain until July 13 with two tropical storms and southwest monsoon. It is not only heavy rain but lightning, thunderstorm, strong winds, and with it comes untold disasters and damages.

The Ministry of Water Resources and Meteorology in issuing an alert and a warning yesterday, said that the tropical storm IN-FA 2106 together with the Inter-Tropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ) from northern Thailand and the southwest monsoon will create reels of storms and rainfall in the Kingdom. It said that the ITCZ which occurred from northern Thailand was connected with an active low pressure in the South China Sea.

Meteorology Department director, Um Rina, said the ITCZ’s low-pressure system is formed by the combination of two or more low pressures and this will continue from today (July 7) until July 13. While the pressure of  ITCZ brings rain to irrigate the agricultural lands throughout Cambodia,  he said there will be strong gusts of wind and lightning which people have to be careful of.
