Rapid test and vaccinations.

Hi..

I have asked hospitals and clinics but cannot get a straight answer.

Can someone answer definitely whether a person that has had both shots of sinovac over 2 weeks ago won't automatically fail a rapid covid test due to antibodies in their system?

Thanks in advance.

Yes and no... the question shows a bit of a misunderstanding...

1) A vaccinated person will not test positive with a Covid-19 RT PCR Test

2) A vaccinated person will not test positive with a Rapid antigen test

3) A vaccinated person will test positive for antibodies with an Antibody test

The RT PCR test and Rapid antigen tests test for active infection to see if you currently have Covid-19.

Anti-body tests check for ‘anti-bodies’ and can recognise if a person has previously been infected with Covid-19 or has been vaccinated. The purpose of vaccines is to encourage your body to ‘build’ antibodies.

I wouldn’t trust any answer a hospital or clinic in Thailand gave me on this unless it was clear that the Doctor clearly understood the question and the difference between antigen and antibody.

Lots of info on the internet about this.

Presumably  you would have evidence  of your vaccine  status anyway?

Yes but being carted off to hospital until sorted does not appeal, plus even with vaccination can still be positive.

That only happens if you have Covid-19....

The vaccine does not give you Covid-19 or make you test positive for a current infection of Covid-19.
