Cambodia’s COVID-19 vaccination drive crosses 70% with 7,043,969 people vaccinated

Featured Replies

As emergency measures were adopted and are set to be implemented from midnight today for two weeks until August 12 to reign in runaway COVID-19 infections, especially the Delta Variant, vaccination drive to reach herd immunity as soon as possible continued steadily with 7,043,969 vaccinated as of July 27 night.

This represents 70.44 percent of the initial target of 10 million people which has since been revised to more than 80 percent or 13 million people to be vaccinated, including two million children aged between 12 and 17 from August 1.

The scheduled arrival of one million doses of single shot Johnson & Johnson vaccines from the United States, which has so generously come to the aid of Cambodia through the COVAX initiative Friday morning and on August 2 will see another one million people being vaccinated, depending on how the vaccines are to be allocated. The U.S. Embassy in Phnom Penh said Wednesday that one million doses of Johnson & Johnson COVID-19 vaccine donated by the U.S. to Cambodia via the COVAX facility will arrive in Cambodia soon in two batches.
