Apple price rise

Featured Replies

I noticed the IPhone 17 was 29,000 baht last week on Apple Thailand
and has now risen to 34,900 .
I thought the "older "phones were supposed to drop in price when the new ones hit the market.
Is this Apple"s new marketing strategy ?

The memory and storage have made prices of all devices go up in price. The quality of their products has also not improved much so they are definitely a company on the decline if I've ever seen one. With AI pretty soon we probably won't even need smartphones for anything

Will be doling out ฿56,900 in a couple days for a new one.

That’s a pretty bold claim, but the data doesn’t support a 'decline.' Their latest financial reports show steady revenue growth, and their global market share is actually up. A company isn't declining just because a specific product line no longer suits your personal taste.

I’ll replace my iPhone 15 max with the new 18 pro max mid September before flying back to Thailand on October 1.

I love APPLE! Hate Android.

Yeah, I can completely understand the love for Apple over Android! I'm actually holding out for that newly announced iPhone Duo foldable. Having those two screens will be perfect for watching the footy on one side while arguing with people on AN on the other! :)

You could have bought it 7 years ago from Samsung

You may want to consider ordering online when during preorder September 12 as these tend to deplete rather quickly and may not be available in the stores when you get there unless you plan on being one of the first in line on the first day of sale.

Not a problem in San Diego. Never seen a store depleted.

It can happen if a particular phone is in high demand. I remember being in Scottsdale when the IPhone X first came out. There was a line out the door and down the block, and if you didn't already have one reserved, you were out of luck for a few weeks.

I've been thinking about buying a new IPhone 18 Pro or ProMax, but I really don't need one. My IPhone 15 Pro works fine for my purposes, but that doesn't mean I won't buy a new phone anyway. I'm going to skip the IPhone Duo for now, I think. I'm waiting to see how the "crease" in the screen holds out and whether it'll become annoyingly visible after a month or so of people using the phone. It looks like a neat little gadget, though.

If a physical sim is handy for you then pick it up in th, the Thai version has both eSIM’s and a single sim slot.

I was hoping the Iphone 17 would drop in price as my 12 mini is about due an upgrade .
But as I stated it didn't come down the bloody thing went up !
Oh well , soldier on another year with the 12

Spot on, mate, it’s definitely going to hurt the wallet! $$$$$ But look at it this way: instant big screen for movies while travelling without dragging an iPad around, and crucially—no ugly crease in the middle like those other flip phones. You only live once, right? I'll just be eating instant noodles for the next six months to pay for it! 😂

Anyone with basic IT knowledge knows what a joke IOS is.

That’s quite a claim. 😂

You’ve apparently confused “I don’t like iPhones” with “I understand technology.”

Samsung makes components used in iPhones, so apparently that makes the iPhone inferior. By that logic, every car containing parts made by another manufacturer must also be rubbish. 🤔

You clearly prefer Samsung. Fair enough — buy one and enjoy it. 👍

But repeatedly telling everyone that iOS is a joke doesn’t make you an expert. It just makes you sound like someone with a very strong opinion about a phone he doesn’t own.

I don't currently use a Samsung but yes for many years was sucked into the Apple ecosystem.

Apple really have convinced noobs they've got something special.....

Apple folding phone ? 5 years or more late to that game - LOL

C port charging port > y'all got mad played on that one for years also.

It's subpar tech and overpriced.

apple-v0-iknra2rc6pm91.webp

^

So your argument has basically changed from “iOS is a joke” to “Apple didn’t release certain features first.” 😂

The folding-phone argument is particularly weak. Yes, Apple hasn’t released one yet. But being first to market doesn’t automatically mean being the best. Samsung got there early — fair play — but congratulations on being first to put a visible crease down the middle of a phone. 😂

And USB-C? Apple adopted it when the industry standard had moved that way. Apparently using the same connector as everyone else is now evidence of “subpar tech.” 🤔 It’s a charging port, mate, not a technological revolution.

As for “overpriced”, premium phones from both Apple and Samsung cost plenty. If you’re happy paying premium money for a folding phone with a crease, fragile display and compromises that come with the design, that’s entirely your choice. 👍

You prefer Android. Nobody has a problem with that.

But you still haven’t actually explained what makes iOS a “joke”. You’ve listed features Apple was late to. That’s not the same argument.

Being first doesn’t necessarily mean being best — otherwise we’d all still be using the first version of everything.

Apple was FORCED to adapt to USB-C by the EU. And no it isn't just a charging cable, it is a data transfer cable, so Apple users had to buy an expensive lightning cable for data transfer, only because they had an expensive Apple.

I provide an online service, and when I have a customer who has issues with basic instructions and operations, in 90% of the cases it's an Apple fanboy

Being forced by the EU to adopt USB-C doesn’t somehow prove that the technology Apple produces is “subpar”. It proves the EU wanted a common charging standard — and Apple eventually adopted it. 🤷‍♂️

And yes, Lightning could transfer data. Nobody claimed otherwise. The point is that calling the port itself evidence of inferior technology is a bit of a stretch.

But my favourite part is the “90% of my customers with problems are Apple fanboys” statistic. 😂

That’s not data — that’s an anecdote from one person’s customer base. Unless you’ve actually recorded the numbers and compared them with the percentage of Apple users you deal with, 90% tells us absolutely nothing about whether Apple users are less technically capable.

I could say “90% of people I know who drive Toyotas can’t change a tyre” and it wouldn’t prove Toyota drivers are technically incompetent. 😂

And we’re still waiting for the actual evidence that iOS is a “joke”. So far we’ve had USB-C, folding phones and your customer anecdotes.

That’s criticism of Apple, certainly. Evidence that iOS is technically inferior? Not so much. 😉

I never said anything about quality of the lightning port, so better stop putting words in my mouth.

My point is that you already had spent money on an overpriced phone, then had to spend more money for a cable to connect it to any non-apple device. And that cable was again overpriced, because why would a lightning cable, that can do exactly same as a USB-C cable, cost 3 times as much?

My point is, apple cult members buy a phone, and Apple still owns it, because they say what you can do with it and what not. They dictate which apps you can install, it isn't even so long ago that you couldn't have Google or Gmail on it.

So yes Apple users are pretty dumb, as they don't even realise any of the above.

You’re perfectly entitled to dislike Apple and prefer Android, but once you start declaring that people who choose a different phone are “pretty dumb”, you’ve left the technology discussion and moved into personal insults. 😂

As for the actual points:

Yes, Apple used a proprietary connector for years. Yes, Lightning accessories could be expensive. And yes, Apple was later required by EU rules to move to USB-C. None of that demonstrates that iOS is a “joke”.

And the idea that Apple “owns” your phone because it controls the operating system is a bit dramatic. Android manufacturers also control their software, impose restrictions and have their own app stores, policies and ecosystems. The difference is how those systems are designed and how much control the user gets.

You don’t like Apple’s approach — fair enough. I don’t have a problem with that.

But “I don’t like Apple’s business model, therefore Apple users are dumb” isn’t a technical argument. It’s just an insult dressed up as one.

If you want to explain exactly why iOS is technically inferior, I’m happy to discuss it. If the argument is simply that anyone who disagrees with you has a low IQ, there’s not much technology left to discuss. 😉

Wait til the see the price in Thailand of the new iPhone Duo for 2LB it is $3,200.

I currently have 2 e-sims on my 15. One T-Mobile and one DTAC. No slot for a physical sim.

Can be transferred directly to a new 18.

It's already listed on the Apple Thailand page.

Prices are as follows:

256GB 79,900 Baht

512GB. 87,900

1 TB. 103,900

2 TB 127,900

Better make sure you get the new watch too. Apparently it records (audio) everything all the time and gives you a summary at the end of the day. Of course they won't do anything with the recording other than your daily summary. 555
