Is the post operating normally?

I read somewhere that parts of the country are without any postal service at the moment, probably Covid-related, I guess. I haven't had anything delivered here in around a week, while I usually get a couple of items from local sources or overseas most weeks. Does anybody know if the Thai Post service is operating normally in the Pattaya/Banglamung area?

I sent a document registered to the Uk from CM and apart from a few days delay at Swampy, it got there in about 9 days, this was late July.

Thanks, but I was asking about the Pattaya/Banglamung area. It's possible that the mail in CM is fine but the local sorting office here has been closed due to a Covid outbreak. I can't see anything about it online, so I'm asking if anybody knows more.

there were 2 holidays the last week, monday and wednesday.

Even tuesday was most likely half-working day (my local post offices were showing on google maps as opened only to 12:00pm, but probably working till evening).

They tell about about closures of depo many days after it happens - that was the case in April last year and at the end of April this year. When the system grinds to hold, stockpile of parcels, they would spill the beans, to excuse themselves. The best to talk directly to your local PO, or even your postman

Post offices in my area of Bangkok are all shut. May be a dark red thing.

closed in shopping centers, but still opened off street.

But I have spotted them doing slower work now, for the last week.

Google maps should point you to still opened. You can double check by calling them directly, there is also a phone number on their google listing

I just noticed a postman delivery in Bangkok/Ramkampeng area.  So some delivery is still going on despite Covid.

Postal services all over the world has gone to dogs since this Covid thingy and expect weeks and months for items to arrive...

Still waiting for a registered letter from Germany sent on July 5.

21 days until status changed to handed over to international logistics for transport to destination country. That was on July 26 and I got excited.

Excitement lost as no change since then

If it's only the local postal service it should still show some status change like arrived at Suvarnabhumi. Thai postal tracking is quite detailed.

Am in East Pattaya and the post delivery service in the last few months has been very intermittent, for obvious reasons. Deliveries tend to be every couple of weeks or so with a bunch of letters coming all at once.

Not received anything since the change to 'deep red' so that might mean a total jam, similar to earlier in the year.

So, not normal as in pre-covid days I found the delivery service to be excellent.

The same for me, I also live in East Pattaya and pre covid times I'd get mail about once a week, now it's more like once every 15 days all held together with a rubber band.

I'm in Jomtien. Mail delivery seems largely to be operating as normal.  Made an online purchase from BKK on Friday afternoon, delivered to me by the PO on Monday afternoon. I haven't specifically monitored other deliveries day by day, but I can think of a dozen mail items arriving fairly recently that were not noticeably delayed.

Overseas deliveries is another issue - mail took 5 months to arrive from NZ early 2021.  But that's more likely the NZ :Post Office fault - the NZ Socialist Party shut down the border tighter than spandex on a 200KG Russian woman weightlifter.

I can answer my own question as the postie brought me a bank statement from Jersey this morning. It's the statement for May/June and would probably have been posted 3 weeks ago, though you can't be certain these days. So the service is operating, but perhaps slightly slower than usual for international deliveries.

The big worry, of course, esp for int'l mail, is that they'll be sitting around somewhere forgotten. This is less true in the age of barcodes.

Even first class mail in every country bears a tracking number on the receipt. Often here, though, the numbers don't get recorded into the system.

Bangna. First class small parcel from Canada, five weeks. Small parcel from USA, nine days.

Thailand Post is awesome in general & our posties are the best.

Far North ,near Mae Sai the mail is still being delivered regularly , but outgoing mail is now a problem

They wouldn't even accept regular international letters, ONLY registered , and delivery outside Thailand is real slow for any mail

What they allow for outgoing international mail seems to change "at there discretion" , which usually means more expensive

Looking at months instead of days or weeks for delivery outgoing

Strangely incoming parcels  seem to arrive in a timely fashion

My mail in East Pattaya is working normally. I don't generally get much but when I got back from getting my "jab" yesterday, I had "new mail" in the box.

And I see the post guys on their motorcycles all over the place when I'm out and about.
