Come back when you've 4,000,000 baht and maybe you'll get some answers. These days 400,000 baht is what most folks use as spare change. Business dealings typically involve sums of money much larger.

However if you speak to enough farang down the bars I'm sure 'They'll' have a way of fleecing in the guise of you 'making' money. So be careful how you approach this.

Now if you're smart I'd invest that money in your home country of origin.

Thailand (unless you're well connected or very lucky) is best left as a place for R & R and easy living, not wannabe commercial enterprises.

Smartecosse: I agree with you .. but I ask for ideas not more than that.

about the "come back when u have 4M its not the right case.

I have business and have income just thought to make an Add on or a different small business and to use this kind of sum (400K) to lift me up to start a second small business.

Thanks anyway.

Why didn't you mention this fact at the start then instead of us all having you down as last chance saloon man ??

How about eBay? They are expanding right now into Thailand and Paypal seems to work here now.

Not sure exactly how Ebay can be "expanding" into Thailand, dont you mean the sellers out of Thailand is expanding ? :o

Ebay is a nightmare, all the protection is geared towards the buyer and has got worse more recently. Ebay buyers can be ruthless with over the top expectations ! It all depends what you are selling, Ebay is ok but if you are on a small profit margin then dont bother, it could end up costing you !

Paypal is great, I love it !

As for what you should do with the the 400,000 baht ?..... Maybe you could spend it on enhancing the current business that you already have in place !

What kind of business you advice to do with this kind of budget?

small risk.

steady income.

If i were you id go home home now before you run out altogether !, :o someone once asked me how to get a small business in pattaya, i replied, " buy a big one and wait ', . on a serous note, you wil struggle with that i consider, but its not unheard of if you can find something new to export, . trying to run a business here on that wil be tough,..good luck though

Book a room in a nice hotel and live like a king for a few days. It's the best thing you can do with 400.000 baht OR you can just forget about it. It will end up costing you more, giving you more headaches and more stress.

Alot of people have left smart-arse pointless messages here. But if thats his budget then a serious idea is an internet shop, you may need a little bit more. But that would be the most profitable/stable/easy to run business idea for an investment of that ammount.

in my opinion.

Absolutely none. Also to get business visa you need 2 million baht and employ 4 Thai so just go figure.... :D

Hi there, just intersted in the buisiness visa thing.  I have a Thai company which i used to buy a house, but next year i intend to start a small buisiness with my Thai wife - so does that mean i have to have 2 million tied up and employ 4 thais in order for me to be able to work in our own buisiness?

thanks :o

theres alot of things you can do for 400,000 baht, but probably not something in central bangkok...not being in central bangkok isnt a bad thing.

by central bangkok i mean sukhumvit, thong lor, silom, asoke...areas

considering most thais start businesses with less than 400,000 baht....i wouldnt say its impossible.

almost anything having to do with automobiles will prosper....specialize in repairing euro cars or korean cars, you have to know how thais think in regards to choosing a shop.

install LPG/CNG during this time and you will be rich quite quickly by thai standards = profit of 20,000baht per cng install...you can expect at the least 10 cars per month.

listening to the advice of naysayers, never gets anyone anywhere...sometimes you just have to say <deleted> and go for it...

but whatever you do, dont open a beer bar !

I'd think being able to build from a steady, reliable customer base would be a good start. Stable expats, preferably elderly are a good market niche. What do they love more than anything else? Why their animal companions of course. The biggest fear they have is who will look after fluffy or fido when they travel or go home for a visit. How about short term animal care or animal home care? It's a growing service niche in western europe, usa and canada.

You could offer personalized shopping for tourists. Believe it or not most tourists hate having to bargain and have yet to realize that Carrefour exists. Promise them "thai" prices and they will jump all over you.

Find a reasonably longterm trusted HYIP and put in say USD 1,000 and get 25% per month.  After you get your money back in 4 months the rest is cream and you can invest more if you like.

Worked for me for a long time!

People are assuming he has to buy a business for his 400k. I never understand why anyone would buy a business when you can just - frankly - copy the idea and establish one yourself, with no need to pay for the goodwill. Off the top of my head:

1) A small coffee shop or restaurant. Minimal capital needed.

2) With 400k you could buy 10 motobikes and rent them out, particularly in a tourist/backpacker heavy place such as samui, koh chang, chiang mai even.

3) Juice bar. All the rage in places like Australia and NZ; yet to really take off her except in a half-hearted way.

watch out for guys like badbanker. youll lose your money in no time......lol.

OR you can make a bundle.  Lots of bankers do this as it pays for their extreme lifestyles!

Do your research and invest small and you will be surprised how you can succeed.

PS I'm not that bad :o

Buy a digital video camera, a laptop with media software, and hire some bar girls to do porn! Charge male tourists a small fee to appear in the video and nail a girl that they never could back home, like half of what they would pay for said bar girl(s) if they arranged her himself, and give the guys a copy of the low production video as a momento of their trip! Or not charge them to appear but for the video itself.

Set up a website and sell the videos online! Have different kinks and fetishes too (like ladyboys for the Japanese tourists).

I know porn is illegal in Thailand before I get flamed! Like that has stopped millions of people in the flesh trade here!?!?!?!

Or....

If you know Thailand really well you could do some sort of tour service. We always met guys on holiday who wanted to hang out with us because we knew the lay of the land (pun intended) and would fulfill their requests by taking them to whatever type of place they wanted. They knew they wouldn't get riped off and would cut straight to the chase. We didn't charge, it wasn't a biz for us, just fun.

I think you need a license to do this legally though, not sure.

Good luck!

seriously; take 200k, rent a cheap empty shophouse in a not too bad location (maximum rent 20k/month, no key money! do NOT buy any existing business!) and start whatever kind of business you like, even bar beer if you fancy that. if you take something between say 2000 and 5000 baht a day that should be enough to pay your monthly expenses and have a little bit of an income for yourself on top. you will NOT live like a king, just enough to survive (i'm doing this for several years). leave the other 200k on your bank account: you will need them in bad times! how many years will you manage to survive?

other option: enjoy a long holiday and just waste your 400k! how long could that holiday last??

If u are married I am sure you only need to show 1m Baht......but the ratio of Thai employees is correct to my knowledge

But I could be wrong!

If you really want to know ask Sunbelt Asia
