Bangkok ASQ Check Out Times - Want To Book An Internal Flight

Recommended Posts

Hi folks - anyone able to assist with Bangkok ASQ check out times on Day 15? Now that Bangkok Airways have started their internal flights to Chiang Mai again from today, I was wanting to book a flight. Choices are 0800, 1225 & later in the day at 1705.

Need to confirm the check out time to ensure I have enough travel time to get to the airport for say 1100 for the 1225. Assume this will be sufficient time to cover the additional checks and paperwork required for internal flights. Is 1h25mins sufficient?

I've tried a few of the ASQ sites but cannot find any details. Any information would be appreciated.

Thanks

I don't know but I would think no rules.

Book for the next day. But to play safe, book after already leaving asq

That is an option. The Risk with doing that is having to do ASL / Home isolation when you arrive in Chiang Mai having spend time in a 'Dark Red zone' albeit 1 day.

At least if I travel same day as ASQ check-out, I can demonstrate from the paperwork that I have completed ASQ in BKK & immediately left for Chaing Mai on the first available flight having spent no time in the 'Dark Red zone'. I've seen on other threads on this same topic that this gives you the best chance of avoiding the additional quarantine / isolation. Some have still completed Home isolation on arrival which I think is a bit harsh - some not all.

I doubt there are no rules - this would mean you would check out at 12.01 on the final day which doesn't feel right. Hopefully someone who has completed ASQ can confirm.

When will you be completing ASQ?

Where is your ASQ hotel?

Suvarnabhumi is in Samut Prakan, which is dark red today.

I too would play it safe and travel the following day.

Travel restrictions will only become more relaxed.

But what's the rush? You can ask at the ASQ hotel when you check in. Then purchase the PG ticket that first day, after having a firm check-out time. It's not like the flights are going to be sold out.

Check with your hotel; most appear to be 6 am (to give them time to get the paperwork finalised) although technically any time after midnight.

Yes ... I picked a friend up at 6am so it appears that it can be done but you should obviously confirm with the hotel.

My check out day is a Saturday early November. On checking 2 flights on Bangkok Airways (1230 & 1730) there are only 9 seats left on both flights already and my flight is early November. These flights will be sold out this week never mind in 7 weeks time when I check-in. Hope this clarifies the urgency. Appreciate there are another 5 airways with flights (Smile / Thai Lion AIr / Thai Viet Jet Air / Air Asia & Nok Air) but doubt there will be seats available by that time.

ASQ not booked yet - I will book one nearer the airport if that is required once I understand the check-out times / rules.

I don't share your confidence that the travel restrictions will only become more relaxed. I hope you are right but not sure how you have arrived at that position.

Leaving it until the following day is an option. See my earlier reply re the Risk of doing so.

You'll have plenty time to make a 12:30 flight regardless of which Bkk ASQ you end up going with.

Yes, based on the replies so far, I feel more confident in booking the 1230 flight.

Thanks for your input.

Why do you doubt this?

I think you are overestimating demand.

The "seats left" figure that you quote are for the Web Promotion fare bucket. Web Saver and Web Freedom are wide open.

The is called revenue management.

I doubt these flights will be sold out even on the day of travel.

All the options have been presented.

When I was in an BKK ASQ hotel earlier this year and asked about check out times I was told anytime after 6am to 12 noon on the last day. But like others have said, best to ask your hotel.

Thanks for the additional info. I wasn't aware of that - much appreciated.

I'll book the internal flight as soon as my CoE is pre-approved which should be next week.

I was in the same boat as you 4 months ago. It will be a 6am checkout. I booked the midday flight and checked out at 09.30am. I was 15 minutes from the airport.

Just confirm with the hotel when you arrive for peace of mind.

Sounds like a good plan - thanks for sharing.

Did you have to do any ASL / Home Isolation on arrival? Did you fly to Chiang Mai?  My understanding / hope is that as long as I travel same day ASQ check out straight to internal flight, I should be able to avoid this.

Any info / guidance you can provide on this part of the journey would also be appreciated.

I'm checking out of mine next Thursday at 6am, but I'm being picked up. The Hotel advised 6am to 12 in writing on arrival. In Australia both times I checked out at 12.01am

Appreciate the info. I'll confirm with the ASQ hotel direct once finalised but I think I'm safe to book a mid-day internal flight based on the replies so far.

Are you travelling onwards after check-out? If so, are you expecting to do ASL / Home isolation on arrival?

if november, and not now, within the next 2 weeks, you will have plenty time at asq to play with plans and air bookings.

Nobody has any idea, how situation will be in over 2 months.

Looks like situation is progressing.

in your place I would book sandbox and not asq. That is much more expensive and is waste of time (unless you really need 2 weeks in complete isolation). Sandbox you can treat as holiday, do whatever you like. Phuket sandbox hotels from around 8k, 3 tests 8k.

There would be many more flights if demand rises, they run at 5% capacity now.

Airlines timetable changes monthly

When I was in ASQ(February 2021) front desk called me the day before check out and asked me what time would I like to leave.  I said 0700 because i had a 1000 AM domestic flight.  If I were you I would contact the front desk the day before and request a specific checkout time.  The only issue that could see is  your checkout documents(ASQ Completion Certificate and the Covid 19 test results might no be ready if you checkout before 0600 or 0700) I had wait for an escort to come to my room at checkout.  The only other business left was to get my checkout documents from the front desk. Then it was a short Grab ride to BKK airport.

Theoretically you have met the requirement to quarantine for 14 full 24 hr hour periods (days) at midnight on the last (15th) night - you ‘could’ check out at 12:01am.

Of course, this is colouring outside the lines and is likely to be met with a ‘cannot’ !!...

The hotel issues a ‘release paper’ (I’ve done ASQ twice but still never looked at or even know that this paper is called !)...

I checked out of my ASQ at 9am and 8am - no issue with those check out times.

I also know of people who have checked out at 5am to catch a flight.

So ultimately, OP, its up to you what time you want to check out. Let your hotel know ahead of time and you’ll be fine.

You should be good to check out at 05:00 hrs and catch an 08:00 hrs flight - you can ask your hotel to have all the paper work required, you’ll have your answer then as to whether or not you can actually check out at 5am. My guess is that each hotel is slightly different in how it accommodates check out.

After all the stress of getting here, I’d just chill and take the 12:25 hrs flight.

I'm going home. Apparently the Hotel/Hospital is going to give me some document, I'm not expecting to do isolation at home, if I have to it wont really worry me, I can look forward to some visits from the village nurses. I'll let you know

This is basically the same as online shopping sites (which is are what online websites are), who offer a promotion price 1 minute after you click on that product, but there's also text which says (in detail) that the promotion price finishes that same day 5 minutes after the promotion price appeared.

Bordering on being dishonest. Rampant capitalism at work.

Thanks for the first hand info. I'm going to keep it simple - book the 12.25 flight based on the helpful replies so far. I'll of course confirm with the ASQ when I book it next week.
