September 9, 20215 yr The Thai consulate tells me that the "Special Tourist Visa" program ends on September 30th. What do you erudite gentlemen think the odds are that they extend the program? It looked like a useful visa. 90 days with one extension to 180. The government claims to be trying to encourage long term Western tourists. Why end a very viable visa that does what they are trying to accomplish? The government also seems to extend a program or law just hours prior to its' expiry. The last year and a half has convinced my to look elsewhere for an expat life but I do like the country and the people and still wish to come visit for four to six months at a time. This visa looked perfect for my needs as it wasn't that complicated. The consulate suggested I apply for an O instead of an OA.

I suspect the total applications for them was very small. Not many people were willing to or able to meet the over the top requirements for them.
