BANGKOK, Sept 27 (TNA) – Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha ordered the Public Health Ministry to make COVID-19 antigen test kits (ATKs) available at general and online stores and assigned the Government Pharmaceutical Organization to procure them for sales at low prices.

Government spokesman Thanakorn Wangboonkongchana said the prime minister wanted the Public Health Ministry and other concerned organizations to guarantee that general people and small-scaled business operators have adequate access to ATKs at reasonable prices.

In response, the board of the Food and Drug Administration resolved to allow general stores to sell legally supplied ATKs without having to register for the sales, in addition to ATKs available at drug stores with pharmacists.

Have the Population self test with ATK, and all will be well for any reopening Infection numbers in short order.

The Gov,t will also save a few baht by not having to give expensive PCR tests

Instead going through the motions of the whimsical notions of testing, wouldn't it be more prudent if the general population practiced cautionary protocol.

Wasn't it only a month or so ago that the PM stated that the general public should not have access to ATK without proper medical personnel to instruct them and train them!

Yup. If people can buy them the expense is theirs. If they test positive then they are likely to self isolate and monitor themselves before reporting anything. The alternative is to risk the "covid care facility" circus or, if you're an expat have the local hospital gouge your insurance for 100k for a nice stay.

Win for the spreadsheet numbers going down, more money in the trough. High fives all round.

Probably the iffy Chinese ones

The guy meant;  “Take care of yourself, pay your Test kits…I’m busy”. ????

He needs to worry more  about AK47's right now ????

Bought one yesterday at Supercheap - 150 baht. They look a bit complicated (“quick user guide” only in Thai) and take 20 minutes for a result.

A bit cheaper at least.

So far they sold a different type for 1200 Baht for five tests (240/test).

Available for long at drugstores/pharmacies.

7/11 would be handy or local clinic to buy these kits as many villages here have a 7/11 but not any pharmacies close buy.
