Villagers face projects of investment companies to preserve their original identity

Stung Treng Province in Cambodia faced a violation by foreign investment companies that seek to invest in the area at the expense of the villagers' lands and use them, which sparked the resentment and protest of the local villagers in the province on projects made among the indigenous lands, especially since there are large areas far from the village in need to be developed.

The landowners repeatedly appealed to Stung Treng expense authorities to intervene to preserve the identity of the area, which includes many unique trees.

The villagers believe that standing up to the investment project aims to defend the survival of the forests after some of Cambodia's mountainous areas have become barren wilderness.

It is noteworthy that the total area of the submerged lands and inland lands of ethnic communities is about 7,836 hectares.
