drronnie
A friend of mine is currently on a non O volunteer visa from Korat however she wants to start working at a foundation in Bangkok. The immigration in Bangkok requests my friend to cancel her current volunteer visa in Korat. My question is that if she cancels her visa in Korat does she apply for the Covid amnesty visa extension in Korat or in Bangkok and does she need a letter from the embassy or can she use an own decalration letter? ubonjoe
If they will post date the extension cancelation by presenting a letter from the organization they are working with that shows the last day they will working with them. They could then go to immigration a few days before that day and they would stamp it canceled on that day. Of course that would only work if the paperwork was ready for the new extension based upon volunteer work. They could apply for the 60 day covid 19 extension on the day the extension is canceled. They would need to complete this affidavit that has boxes to tick for the reason the extension is needed. 60 Day Covid 19 Extension Affidavit.pdf229.8 kB · 718 downloads

Can she still cancel the visa? Edited October 18, 2021 by drronnie

Then he could not have his extension canceled so that he can apply for a new extension. In normal times the option would be to leave and re-enter the country with a new non-o visa based upon volunteer work.

You are saying that if my friend shows up at the Korat immigration with her passport and wants to cancel the non o volunteer visa however no paperwork from the foundation as the volunteer visa was obtained though an agency her cancellation will be rejected? Just an idea, your friend could ask the agent that facilitated the extension for help with canceling it.

Yes But they could try to see what immigration says. It might help if he showed them he is changing to a different organization.

Maybe that helps

So in that case would you recommend her to let it expire and the do the Covid as she does not have the funds to return and be quaratined in her country?
