Hello,

I'm hoping to get a little guidance to help me plan a trip back to Thailand to introduce our son--eight days old today--to his in-laws later this year.

I've already arranged for his British Passport but I'm wondering whether I can get him a Thai passport too as his mother, my wife, is Thai? Is there some other form of 'registration' needed at the Thai embassy in London?

Will my wife have any problems leaving and/or re-entering the UK as she is still resident in the UK on an FLR visa?

Do I need a visa? As I understand I can get a thirty day visa on arrival but want to leave nothing to chance. Is there a possibility that the airline in the UK won't let me travel from London without a visa?

Thanks in advance for any help here. I'm looking into vaccinations separately, but if there's anything else that I may have overloooked then please let me know.

Your son can travel, as you do, on his British passport. You both will get 30day visa free entry on arrival. You do not need a visa if you do not intend to stay longer than 30 days. No problem boarding the aircraft if your return ticket is booked within the 30 days.

Your wife will have no problem leaving or entering UK with the FLR stamped in her passport.

You can, of course, apply for a Thai passport for your son but you need to contact the Thai embassy in London and get a Thai birth certificate for him first and with that apply for a Thai passport.
