Cambodian Deputy Prime Minister Confirms Trump Nomination for Peace Prize

The Deputy Prime Minister of Cambodia has confirmed plans to nominate US President Donald Trump for the Nobel Peace Prize. This comes after Trump's involvement in halting border clashes between Cambodia and Thailand.

According to Channel News Asia (CNA), Sun Chanthol announced on Friday, 1st August 2025, that Cambodia intends to put forward Trump for the prestigious award. Trump's direct intervention reportedly helped cease conflicts at the Cambodian-Thai border.

CNA contacted Sun to verify Cambodia's intentions, to which he replied affirmatively. Previously, in Phnom Penh, Sun praised Trump for restoring peace, expressing that the president deserves the Nobel Peace Prize for fostering international friendship.

Sun added, "We are grateful for his efforts towards peace," and additionally thanked Trump for reducing Cambodia's import tariffs from 36% to 19%.

Cambodia is not alone in this initiative. In June, Pakistan also declared intentions to nominate Trump after he helped to defuse tensions between them and India. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu mentioned similar plans last month.

Tensions between Thailand and Cambodia escalated to border clashes last week until Trump intervened with phone calls to the leaders of both countries. This led to peace talks in Malaysia on Monday, 28th July, resulting in a ceasefire agreement.

Following the agreement, White House spokesperson Caroline Levitt promptly posted on X, expressing that Trump was instrumental in this achievement, urging for the awarding of the Nobel Peace Prize to him.

Wait! What? This can't be true because some contributors on here said Trump had nothing to do with the ceasefire.

Trump made a few phone calls encouraging a ceasefire and I’ll give him credit for that, even if he used tariffs as the “stick” end of the arrangement. But a Nobel Peace Prize? Trump crying publicly that he doesn’t have one, that he wants one really bad, that he deserves at least five of them, is an embarrassment. What a crybaby.

What a bunch of banana republic numpties.

As you can plainly see my comment is about Trump's intervention which the sufferers couldn't handle by denying it, calling Trump a bully or that it's none of Trump's business. Trump intervened using a halt to tariff talks as a threat and a ceasefire was brokered. Worthy of a Nobel Peace Prize? Probably not. Mind you Obama got one in 2009 and by that time his drone policy had killed many civilians.

Just what his inflated ego needed! I'm dying to know what the "behind the curtains" looked like on that one!

I don't think you get a Nobel Peace Prize by making one phone call, in fact Trumps cock up over Ukraine points in the other direction.....:whistling:

What do you think J stands for in his name? “I have to tell you a secret people. It’s not John. It’s Jesus. Yes I’m the messiah.”

Probably, it was an integral part of the recent 19% tariff deal?
