ASEAN NOW Posted October 27, 2021 Share Posted October 27, 2021 In support of attempts to combat the Covid-19 outbreak, the Vietnamese government has given Laos a grant of USD 2.21 million as well as medical equipment worth over USD 5,000. Mr. Nguyen Quoc Dung, the Vietnamese Deputy Foreign Minister, and Mr. Sengphet Houngbounyuang, the Lao Ambassador to Vietnam, attended a handover ceremony on Monday, according to KPL. Mr. Sengphet thanked the Vietnamese government for its tremendous assistance in Laos' efforts to prevent and control the spread of Covid-19. Since the outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic, Vietnam has given Laos with monetary donations as well as medical equipment and personnel to aid in the fight against the disease. Both governments have pledged to stand shoulder to shoulder and work together to combat epidemics in their respective countries.
