NONTHABURI, Nov 4 (TNA) – The Commerce Ministry is confident that the shortage of fresh vegetables will end soon and pending that it deploys mobile markets to sell vegetables at reasonable prices.

Wattanasak Sur-iam, director-general of the Commerce Ministry's Department of Internal Trade, gave the update on the vegetable price situation and said that rising prices happened mainly to coriander which was highly sensitive to water and weather conditions and was used only for dish decoration. not for real consumption.

He said the department helped consumers by deploying 50 vehicles to sell vegetables cheaper than market prices for one month starting from Nov 3.

'Coriander was used only for dish decoration. not for real consumption.'? What ?? Another minister who hasn't a clue what he is talking about.????

I suspect the coriander argument may be a red herring.

I wasn't aware there was a "shortage" until just now.

Cue UK style panic-buying leading to a shortage.

I don't suppose the shortage could have been caused by the Thais joining the  Chinese vegetarian period?

Probably one thai lady mentioning on facebook or line that it is good "herbal" to fight covid and off they go in hordes to chase down the wonder herbs.

Yes. My wife complained that a couple of days before it began there was a shortage of vegetables on the shelves. She said the stores were holding them back to get a higher price nearer the day. Maybe the growers have had problems catching up?

Not seen corriander for months in Big C. Could get it at Max for b25 a small bunch. Then that disappeared. ?? WT#??

You can only hold vegetable so long before they start to go off. Not sure of the logic here it's not honey.

Who's talking about logic?????

Severe shortages in Supermarkets in the North; staff say caused by Floods in the South.    Big C today; no tomatoes, no Lettuce, no potatoes, barely any fruit apart from apples or overpriced Thai oranges.

Broccoli & Cauliflower is trending at 200baht a kilo

very worrying times when pork becomes cheaper to eat than Vegetables, and there lies the problem with obesity !

A lot of growing land is under water.

Truck drivers striking likely will not help. My Mrs still complaining on the vegetable prices and selection in the market.
