MANILA – A low pressure area (LPA) will continue to bring rains over parts of the country, the weather bureau said Friday.

"It (LPA) still has a slim chance of developing into a tropical cyclone. But this will bring rains over many areas in Luzon, especially in parts of the Bicol region," weather forecaster Aldczar Aurelio of the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said.

The LPA was last tracked 60 kilometers east of Catarman, Northern Samar.

In its 4 a.m. weather bulletin, PAGASA said the Visayas, Albay, Sorsogon, Catanduanes, Masbate, Mindoro provinces, and Palawan will experience scattered rain showers and thunderstorms due to the LPA.

"The rest of Luzon will have fair weather," Aurelio said. Isolated light rains caused by the northeast monsoon are also likely.

Mindanao may experience isolated rain showers caused by localized thunderstorms.

Meanwhile, moderate to high winds and moderate to rough seas will continue to prevail over the northern and eastern sections of Luzon.

Elsewhere, winds will be light to moderate with slight to moderate seas. (PNA)
