The Education Ministry decided at a Zoom meeting yesterday to once again cancel their in person Children's Day events on January 8th 2022.

Instead they will have activities online.

This year's event was also cancelled because of the pandemic, reported Sanook who cited Covid worries in their headline.

Thanu Khwandech, a senior official who presided over the meeting, said that the ministry were looking into ways that would allow 789 talented children who are set to receive awards from Prayuth Chan-ocha to safely meet the PM.

ASEAN NOW notes that Thai Children's Day was formerly one of the exciting days of the year for children and their parents.

Whether events at other institutions will be cancelled following the lead of the education ministry remains to be seen.

Many schools still remain shut despite a widespread drive to vaccinate older pupils.
