Bangkok's chief of police Pol Lt-Gen Samran Nuanma went to visit two of his men recovering in Kluay Nam Thai hospital after a drunk Thai woman hit them on their patrol motorcycle in the early hours of Saturday morning.

Pol Sgt Wachara who was driving the bike and Pol Sen Sgt Maj Kissana who was riding pillion are out of danger but being assessed.

Should they require a hospital stay of 20 days plus the woman who hit them will have her negligent driving chage upgraded from causing injury to causing serious injury.

At 12.30 am Saturday the pair from Prakhanong police station were on patrol in the area of the Century the Movie Plaza at the BTS station.

They were hit by a Honda City with Chaiyaphum plates driven by Saranya Chawiang, reported Daily News.

The motorcycle was propelled into the path of a yellow and green cab.

Saranya had a blood alcohol level of 190 ml, nearly three times over the legal limit.

She has been charged with DUI and causing injury through negligent driving.

Hope it costs here a lot of money, drunk drivers are the some of the worst people around. Drunk drivers are just irresponsible people playing with the lives of others. They usually don't kill themselves but take out motorcyclists or others.

She will still have 2 more DUI 's  and 10 points left over,

before she looses her license ..........????

This is how serious driving under the influence is taken here.

regards worgeordie

This is the underlying issue...

No one in positions of decision making power takes DUI seriously - they just don’t care.

Instead, all the announcements, the facade of 7 deadly days (new year or Songkran) is nothing more than ’Theatre’ played out to the same script every year.

Until its a mandatory sentence (worldwide I will add) of 6 months in jail minimum for being over the limit then it will continue

In UK it has been reduced heavily with plenty of punitive sentences and rightfully so

Kill someone and its a 14 stretch here now

Maybe some proactive policing and stopping folks after the driving pattern has been observed and then arrested after being tested might assist in removing impaired drivers from the road. Wait, what did I just right TIT, and even the RTP is drunk and sleeping on duty in some locations.

Apparently it took ages for her to blow her test. For some reason she kept sucking!

The difference between blow and sucking had to be explained to her!????

She was confused. Said last time, this is what she did, and it all worked out very well. Wasn't aware there was now a machine.

Doubt. She's from upcountry.

While I empathize with the injured. Kinda rough justice given the lack of enforcement of ALL traffic laws in the country.

How many die on roads?

How many die of covid?
