June 6, 200718 yr Hi again! Thanks to you guys i now have an apartment 10 mins from my work place, so maybe you could help me out with finding a good/cheapish dentist? Tried already to phone around, with some vastly different quotes! So once again i put myself in your hands. Silom area would be okay but will travel further afield now i know the sky train network. Secondly, my girlfriend is currently with me here in Bangkok and she is looking for work in the hospitallity market, she is Thai and was a receptionist in a resort on Koh Samui, speaks good English and is not unfamiliar with computers. Because she doesnt have any school qualifications i think this might be a problem, so she is willing to do some bar work, maybe in a English/Irish bar. Any good suggestions? Whoever gets her a job i will personally buy them a jug of beer, with her first months salary!!!! Many thanks again, Kevbap.
June 8, 200718 yr Dr. Pitak, Patra Clinic, Sathorn Thani Complex, Chong Nonsri BTS Station. The Sathorn Thani Complex is on the northeast corner of Sathorn and Narathiwat Roads. (Standard Chartered Bank on the corner of the building facing the intersection.) The clinic is on the ground floor of the northeastern-most building, at the back of this 3 building complex. (Walk past a Kodak shop.) He is only there about three days per week, as he has another location elsewhere. Best to go in to make your initial enquiry in the late afternoon, about 4:30 - 5:00 p.m. If memory serves me correctly, he is also there Saturday mornings. He speaks English, but the support staff do not. But, they should be able to hand you a business card, saying what times he is there, if you happen to arrive at a time when he is not there.
June 8, 200718 yr And I forgot to mention another option: St. Louis Hospital, south side of Sathorn Road, Surasak BTS Station.
June 11, 200718 yr Hi again! Thanks to you guys i now have an apartment 10 mins from my work place, so maybe you could help me out with finding a good/cheapish dentist? Tried already to phone around, with some vastly different quotes! So once again i put myself in your hands. Dr Sunil (nr Ekkamai) has a good reputation with my friends. You could get a checkup / quote from him - http://www.drsunildental.com/
June 13, 200718 yr I would not recommend Dr Sunil. I had a very bad experience. They are more interested in doing extra work rather than providing dental care.
June 13, 200718 yr Very interesting topic !!! i've had a few bad xxxperiences, both here & in Malaysia, so there are a fewdentists i could reccomend to my enemies. But had anyone actually found a GooD>> competent & not so greedy>(ie. the one who'll do somethnig once! without expecting you to be back anytime soon!) .
June 22, 200718 yr Definitely yes for Malaysia - ismile.com.my Dr Jean and staff all speak excellent English. Clinic is so well equipped. Patient gets an earphone and choose what type of music they want while chiselling is happening!! Here in Bangkok.... hmmm have done once in Samitivej. No problem there. A few times in this other "dental chain clinics". No problem for general cleaning/scaling but very bad experience w root canal. After the 3 visits which supposedly complete the root canal treatment (by specialist), I found out from x-ray in another centre that the canal wasn't doen in all four channels (molar)!!.... and that's why it the pain came back.... but worse is that the re-work is more tedious!! Anyway I'm sure there are good ones here in Bangkok but all I can say NOW is - Dr Jean @ ismile.com.my
June 22, 200718 yr I live in Sathorn area and use DC-one The Dental Clinic. It's located in a quiet soi called Yen Akart, and is in an upscale converted residence. www.dc-one.com. Had good service there, probably not the cheapest. All the dentists are good and qualified.
July 6, 200718 yr Mahidol Dental Hospital, part of the Mahidol University, is the most reliable option for cost and standard. It takes longer to get an appointment, tho, because many people already know this. See http://www.dt.mahidol.ac.th/eng/hospital/specialclinic.html . A short walk from the Victory Monument skytrain stop. Contact details on the Web site.
