Child With US And Thai Passports

Featured Replies

My GF's son has US and Thai passport. She is Thai and has a 10 year multiple entry visa for the US. Next month the three of us will go to the US for the son’s first trip. What passports should the son use where? At Thailand immigration (in/out) use Thai passport and US immigration use the US passport? Does either side care about the other? For instance will US ask “where is your Thai visa?”. Does the either side care about dual citizenship?

Exactly how you explained it. In and out on the Thai passport from LOS.

In and out from the US on the US passport (or wherever else it will be easy for him to travel).

Neither sides immigration cares about the other.

The only people who will care are the airlines, make sure upon check in they see both passports, especially in Thailand. Thai PP tells them that your child needs a departure card, US passport tells them that he doesn't need a visa to enter the US.
