I have a friend over on a 60 day tourist visa and he intends to activate the 30 day extension.

Could someone please clarify when he should apply for the extension (he's only been here for 2 weeks so far).

is there a time window?

 

At most immigration office they will not do the extension until last 2 weeks of the 60 day stay.

    I entered on 3rd October and my 60-day TR expired on 1st December. I applied and got my 30-day extension to 31st December on 10th November, so more than two weeks early.

     

    That was in Patong/Phuket and I think they are more tourist-friendly than some offices.

    What photo copies are needed & of how many?

    If your friend is in Pattaya there's no point going until the day before his current extension expires, as they will just tell him to come back if he tries to do it before then.

    He's in Samutprakarn, with regular visits to Pattaya. ????

    Hi, Mai I ask what they asked for the extension in Patong ?  Seems different in other parts of Thailand and is easier ? I hated waiting at Jomtien and being scrutinized. Thanks.

    The standard stuff - TM7 form, passport photo, copy of passport data page, copy of passport TR visa page plus copy of TM6 departure card, B1,900 cash. That's how I remember it.
