Siam Rath went to the Samrong market in Muang district Samut Prakan near Bangkok after a set of three social media videos were posted by Sitti Kawicha that showed two kids aged about 3 playing on a balcony unguarded by a rail.

The little ones were three stories up in business premises.

Locals said they were always warning the kids to go back inside.

They said the parents worked in the market.

The media found Chukree, 33, a Cambodian man who identified himself as the father of one of the children and uncle to the other.

He said he was shocked by the video and apologized to society.

He promised to be a better father in future.

In mitigation he said that he and his wife were working at the market at the time and the kids were in the care of a grandmother.

She was probably doing the housework at the time and hadn't noticed the kids on the balcony.

That's not a balcony, it's a ledge. There is no door to it, only windows. Pure negligence to not make the windows unreachable by the kids, or have burglar bars.

Unless granny got <deleted> off and deliberately put them there!

"Go and play inthe traffic dearies" springs to mind.

The sad underlying reality / excuse behind many of Thai Children's tragic demise (i.e. pond drownings etc).

Hopefully, something is done to protect these children.

It seems there are many in Thailand who are too far disconnected from the realities of the dangers unsupervised children place themselves in.
