BANGKOK, March 24 (TNA) – The Center for Covid-19 Situation Administration (CCSA) asked for cooperation from festival goers to refrain from splashing water and using powder and foam in public places during the Songkran Thai New Year holiday, said Apisamai Srirangson, CCSA spokeswoman.

 

She said during the CCSA meeting on Thursday, the Culture Ministry asked for cooperation from the organizers of the events to hold the activities under the public health measures. Alcohol sales are banned in public places including at festival venues.

I'm not a Sonkran Fan. But honestly, Sonkran without water, is like Christmas without a Christmas Tree.

Good luck on that one.

 

It is like asking pick-up drivers not to drink 8 beers then drive during any festival.

I usually lock myself up during "the silly days" but Songkran without all that childish water splashing is like Christmas without Santa Claus or Easter without coloured eggs and bunnies. 

But, as everything else here, this suggestion will go unheard and unfollowed, so happy Songkran to everybody and I'll be around in the second half of April again .......

What a brilliant idea.  Bound to work. 

 

They could follow it up with. 

 

Thai motorcyclists asked to refrain from riding without a helmet. 

Thai drivers asked to refrain from driving without a seat belt and while drunk. 

 

The possibilities are endless. 

The Government says one thing and Provincial government officials do what they want ???? 

Khao San Road traders are already asking for water to be allowed plus whatever else alcohol ect 

No doubt they will get their wish 

yaaa and just WHO IS GOING to oversee this ?????????????????

and when did you ACTUALLY SEE santa........at least he does/did not soak people with cold water....people who are on a baht bus well dressed TO GO TO a reastaurant and then have to sit soaking wet while eating..........happened to me many times
