Portfolio Tracking using Google Sheets.

Recommended Posts

There are tutorial videos on You Tube on how to track your investments on a spreadsheet in Google Drive using Google Finance. You can put investments from multiple brokerage accounts on the same sheet, making portfolio tracking easy, simple and secure.

You will need to enter and update what shares you own. Google Finance will auto update the latest prices. This site is good for portfolio tracking but can’t be relied upon for trading, as the share prices updates are delayed up to 20 minutes. Mutual fund prices are updated once a day.

Here is a simple example:

Starting from row 3, Columns A and B, manual enter.

Column C,Google Finance will find and display the name of the investment whose ticker appeared in B3:   =GOOGLEFINANCE($B3,"NAME")

Column D, Manual enter and update number of shares.

Column E, Google Finance will display the latest share price : =GOOGLEFINANCE($B3,"PRICE")

Column F, Price change since last closing: =GOOGLEFINANCE($B3,"CHANGE")

Column G, % change: =F3/E3

Column H, How much your share gain/loss since last closing: =D3*F3

Column I, latest share price x number of shares:   =D3*E3
