B80 Lottery Tickets to Be Sold on App from June 16 Draw

BANGKOK, April 11 (TNA) – The government will sell its lottery tickets at their 80-baht official price via the Paotang application starting on the June 16 draw, according to Prime Minister’s Office Minister Anucha Nakasai.

He said Paotang was the government’s software application that was standard and secure and there were more than 40 million users. It could be applied to ensure that government lottery tickets would be sold at their official price of 80 baht. Besides, it would record the data of buyers and prevent any problems that could otherwise result from the changed ownership of tickets, Mr Anucha said.

Besides, the app will inform prize winners of their luck and advise them on prize collection.

Sold via an online application?  What could go wrong ????.  Anyone care to guess how long before the app gets hacked?

I'll be positive and hope that this will mark the start of a proper 21st century lottery where people can actually choose the numbers they want rather than rely upon what the vendor has in his/her wooden box.

A step in the right direction.

Good job.

Next over the counter at 7/11 maybe ?

But shorley it will be the same amount of tickets but online ,say if you what 77 as the last 2 numbers 077 as the last 3 numbers ,which most Thais look for, and they are sold out that is it.

Just said to the wife ,they are going to do the lottery  online she said ,I will just buy my tickets from the underground lottery ,I would say a lot of other people will be saying the same thing.

But even with the underground lottery, the "lucky numbers" sell out when the operator decides they would be at risk if too many of these numbers actually came up.

What to make of a country where the crisis is about the method to sell a vice Aka lottery. With that poor odds, your chances of dying on roads are higher, its a tax on poor. Just open casinos already so that odds can become a little better for punters.

are they going to be sold BEFORE THE draw date does not really say ........!!!

Ah huh...

They were warned, way back when ... stop scamming.

As stated, big step forward.

Although ... TIT ... await the app to crash the day before ... ????

I thought it said "Pootang" application...but Tinder has that well covered.

the whole thing needs a massive overhaul, time to modernize and bring it into line with how other countries run their lottery - ticket machines and pick your own numbers

  • Popular Post

The trouble is that this, and any "modern" electronic/over the counter lottery takes away the income of the traditional venders. Outside my local 7/11 there are a couple of regular sellers. One has only one arm, one is blind in one eye. There is really nothing else either of them can do to scratch a living.

So take away their income and hand it to CP?

Tickets always go on sale two weeks before the date of the drawing, so it's fair to assume that they plan for this to go live on June 1. Whether that really happens is a totally different question...

They also cut the payout on certain numbers by 50% if too many are selling.

Yes, very sad outcome for those unfortunate people.

I've commented in the past not to be nasty and horrible to the ticket sellers when I read about these 80 baht prices of tickets.

Most of the sellers are the poorest of the poor.

I hope they can find income from other sources.

Lot of truth in that ,the amount of times the wife's family have wanted X number ,and for some reason they will not sell it.

The late King died a few years ago you try and buy 88, age when he died on his birthday you will be out of luck.

Mrs bought one for 120 baht last month, won 4k. Shop deducted over 100 baht to pay out. Must be one of the worst value lotteries in the world. Underground one I have known people not to get paid as the agent kept the money and did not enter the numbers.

About 40 years ago my sis-in-law did something like that.  She had to disappear for years.  She went to work in Japan.

Nonsense, where I live there is no ticket seller on the street at all and most of their profits go to handicapped or children and you can watch the draw online

I wonder what will happen if there are hardly any online buyers for the June draw.

As for winning,GF tells me that the place where they payout takes 3%.

That is, I presume, in Australia?

The same is true in the UK.

I am referring to the implications of what is proposed here in Thailand.

This system will be compromised, and subject to graft, corruption and incompetence, just after midnight on June 2.

????...Go tell it on the mountain, over the hills and far away.....????

If its successful it'll put many people out of a job.

It's time to legalize gambling and all the economic benefits in regards to jobs it provides.

Definitely be nice to have a nice sports book!
