Police in Samut Sakhon said that there had been four gold shop robberies at different stores in Muang district in the last month.

The latest was at Bangkok Gold in Lotus Mahachai 2 on Wednesday evening, reported Thai Rath.

Shop manager Orisara said that a man aged about 35 had come into the store dressed in a grey cap, mask and hoodie and asked to look at two baht weight bracelets.

A whole tray was taken down for his perusal and he tried on one item before biding his time then running off.

Muang district police said he fled on a sky blue and white motorcycle.

On March 24th a lone male robber stole 22 baht weight in gold from a store in Lotus Klong Khru, Muang district. He is still at large.

Then on the 15th April a woman targeted the Dao Thong shop, also in Muang district. She stole a one baht weight bracelet and was subsequently arrested.

Then on the 17th a lone male robber stole a quarter baht weight necklace from the Yaowarat store in Soi Mahachai Villa, Muang district. He is also now in custody.

The price of one baht weight of gold in Thai shops today is about 32,400 baht, notes ASEAN NOW.

Seems a lot of these gold shops within malls are open to robbery...

they should be more enclosed and with security on the door.

In my country they don't show the robberies and don't tell how much money/gold they got.. Reason is quite easy.. if the show how easy it is and how much money they get it will give ideas for more... so stop with that and of course improve the security..

I haven't heard about the robbery where the guy jumps on the counter, grabs one rack of gold and runs. In and out, no more than 10 seconds. Real slick.
