Bangkok City is celebrating its 240th anniversary by arranging several historical places on Rattanakosin Island into fun entertainment venues for “The 240th Anniversary of The Foundation of Rattanakosin” from April 20th to the 24th.

 

A series of cultural events, unique activities, and performances to commemorate the city’s 240th anniversary as the country’s capital were prepared to demonstrate the kingdom’s soft power to allow Thais and foreign tourists to learn more about Thai culture and history.

According to the Thai government, the celebrations will commemorate Bangkok’s founding on April 21st, 1782 as well as commemorate King Rama I, the founder of Bangkok and the Chakri dynasty, and all monarchs of the dynasty.

Thai's would be better off learning more about 'world' history. My teacher wife had never heard of 9/11, never knew there were graves of foreign soldiers in Thailand from ww2 and asked if the UK was nearer Australia than Thailand !
