National – Prime Minister Prayut Chan-O’Cha was satisfied with the significant decrease in daily Covid-19 infections in Thailand, government spokesman Thanakorn Wangboonkongchana revealed yesterday, May 2nd.

The spokesperson told the Associated Press that the Prime Minister saw the decrease as a good sign in controlling the domestic spread of the Covid-19 pandemic in Thailand.

Well.....none if what you did impacted the numbers, virus has run it course so it's coming down till a new strain comes and we run the same cycle. Until then please open the economy and give people a chance to make a living.

Useless to keep the masks on with such numbers...If you wnat to wear ok... and if you don't ok too should be now.. and see if the cases will rise again instead of spreading clueless fear... See what they did with Songkran, about 50k a day and about 500 deaths estimated... Now everything is far less it should reflect the daily life too and get back to normal

New medal for the general at the double ????

You controlled nothing, it ran it's course and is now in decline.

The numbers seemed to take a drastic decline since the talk of lessening the criteria for visitors.  Must be a miracle.
Hmmm.  I wonder.

I am still gobsmacked we did not see a post Songkran surge in infections... doesn't make sense. I heard of a couple of relatives of hers and in the village being positive, but statistics say there was not any increase....

What is he gonna do to keep the protestors off the streets when he can no longer use COVID-19 as an excuse?

When Delta was at it's peak 20,000-25,000 infections per day with approx 100 deaths per day.

In my neck-of-the-woods we heard of a few around us that were infected.

With this Omicron variant numbers seems strangely the same, yet around us every man, wife child & Soi dog has it, in fact it would be easier to count those that haven't been infected?

Do I believe the official figures... absolutely not.

The headline should read Prayut satisfied with the continual practice of testing less and less as Thailand begins to lift more restrictions.

But it looks good on the resume.

Such repeated rhetoric will come in handy for their side in the fraudulent election process that may or may not come about.

Is it... Or, has the media rhetoric changed and people are no longer panicking when they have Covid-19 and are simply staying at home when they catch it and don’t even bother reporting it.

The government wants the numbers to be low.... so they are telling people its ok to stay at home...

So.. people stay at home, the numbers are then lower !

additional information

What about getting rid of the emergency decree?

It is amazing what a bit of number fiddling can achieve,  Chonburi figures for Saturday, 432 new cases, 2737 medically administered ATK tests failed, but require a PCR test to be official. My ecperience one in 4 cases being reported as it is a minor cold. So real numbers probably about 10,000 for Chon Buri province. Now nationwide they are reporting 12,745 cases, but 126 deaths, a very high comparative deaths number for 12,745 cases. The reported numbers a a joke but a good excuse to drop all covid requirements, masks, liquor trading etc. Why are they not doing this. It rhythms with pants on fire.

Cheers
