Royal Enfield Trip Part Two.

Day 2. Ban Kruat Border Sites. 57km

Today just local, first stop was a small lake on my way to Chong-o-bok

https://goo.gl/maps/TaEHcf5MQeveshzaA

After chatting with a soldier at the border lookout place I went to a small pond to take photos. As I got off the bike I heard a loud an unexpected “sa-wat-dee-khrap” that made me jump. But there was nobody there! Then he said “up” and there was a guy sat in the tree, who told me he was fishing.

He actually had some kind of rifle shaped crossbow that fired a net down into the lake.

I then rode to Tarn 472, again on the Cambodian border. 14°19'12.9"N 103°07'46.1"E

Returning I cut a left through the jungle to Pha Ta Rung

https://goo.gl/maps/mmDCrzus8veDEsaa7

I got a little off track and found a train on top of a cliff overlooking a lake on my way back too.

Day 3. 01.04.22. Ban Kruat to Lopburi via Phimai Historical Park. 436km

Rain was forecast for the next two days, so I decided to move on early. My first stop was Phimai Historical Park, from there I rode to Lopburi.

The rain started as I left Phimai, but not hard.

Day 4. 02.04.22 Lopburi to Sukhothai via Phu-ta-berk. 518km

An easy ride to Phu Ta Berk this morning, quite cool at the top due to high cloud cover and the altitude.

https://goo.gl/maps/iovKip983jtquv63A

For some reason there were many people taking photos from the roadside.

Back down and a straight ride to Suhkothai.

Day 5. 03.04.22

A pleasant morning in Sukhothai Historical Park

A large place to wander around and worth the “farang” price of 100 baht. Although I do hate this double pricing.

https://goo.gl/maps/dytfoywjnR22pHNK9

I also visited Wat Si Chum, which was the same price for some strange reason.

Day 12. 10.04.22. Kanchanaburi to Hua Hin. 271km

Some nice back road riding today before meeting the main road at Cha Am.

https://www.relive.cc/view/v8qVBnnA47q

Day 13. 11.04.22. Hua Hin. 56km

Just a bike service today, very hot and terrible haze/smog.

I stayed in a room on the pier here, unfortunately there was a rat who lived here too. And some strange reason it was stealing the soap from the bathroom! I couldn’t work out where the soap was going until I caught the rat actually running away with it.

Day 15. 13.04.22. Chumphon. 96 km

A ride out to see an old friend and their family today then a great evening in a restaurant with good food and music.

Day 16. 14.04.22. Chumphon to Surat Thani. 363km

Today although hot the haze had decreased a lot, I took roads near the coast at times.

After arriving at Surat Thani town I decided to ride on to the coast for an hour to this area.

https://g.page/needarockresort

On arriving I found the area fully booked, and after a beer I road back to town.

Back in Surat I was given the runaround by the hotel I found.

“Can I see the room……….not our policy”

I was tired so decided to stay anyway.

After parking the bike in staff car park, unloading it and walking to reception, they as usual asked for my i.d. No  problem, then proof of ejecting magic juice.

I refused to answer if I had taken it or not and they then asked me to take a test.

I asked if he was a qualified doctor?

Pack bags and off to find new hotel.

Day 20. 18.04.22. Songkhla to Ao Nang. 324 km

I was riding to Betong, but the forecast was 90% rain, as I had been before I decided to ride back to Ao Nang.

There was light rain when I left followed by heavy rain in the hills before Trang. I arrived in Ao Nang to a heavy thunderstorm, luckily I had just walked into a bar for beer and food when it started really hard. So I waited it out and not a bad days riding.

Day 21. 19.04.22

An early morning ride exploring local areas to Ban Kruat followed by a trip to this reservoir.

Well worth a look with many places to rent by the hour to sit over the water with slides etc for the children to play on. Beer and food cheap and good too.

Firstly I went to Prasat Ban Phluang, which was a small place, but very well maintained. On my way to some other sites the rain helped be decide to ride back to Ban Kruat. I was not going to take photos in the rain, there is always another time.

At Ban Kruat I took some photos of the temple in the middle of town, Prasat Tong.

Some great pics. How has the RE Classic been?

I bought a 350 Classic in Phuket at the end of March. Put 500k on it and had it serviced before heading north. Phuket to Sam Roi Yot to Kanchanaburi to Chinag Mai. I am now based in Chiang Mai so have trips into the hills. Travelled to Golden Triangle and Chiang Kong at Songkran. Samoeng Loop last weekend. I will do the Mae Hong Son loop in a couple of weeks.

Absolutely love my bike and now clocked 3500 kms in around 6 weeks.

Enjoy ????

Part one of my trip i went to the north, my favourite part of Thailand.
