Spectre of a substitute PM looms over Prayut

Politicians and observers are seeking a potential “substitute prime minister” in case PM Prayut Chan-o-cha runs into a “political accident”.

Talk of an acting PM was triggered this past week after a slip of the tongue by Deputy Premier Prawit Wongsuwan, who also heads the ruling Palang Pracharath Party.

Prawit said last Tuesday that “there may be a substitute prime minister” if Prayut is unable to remain in his position. However, PM Prayut said he had never heard of a stand-in for his post, while his supporters stressed he is the ruling party’s only PM candidate.

Prawit’s former subordinates, who are now in the Thai Economic Party, recently proposed the deputy PM as “the best candidate” for the prime minister’s post in case of a “political mishap”.

Rats?  Sinking ship?

He's been a shadow PM for a year and a half, barely see him, kept out of publicity for some reason, maybe wants to go anyway

  • Popular Post

Why such a hoo haa?

There are more deputy PMs than you can shake a stick at.

If one of them cannot be used, take away their DPM ships and their extra perks and salaries for doing a non-existent job.

They dwell on the watches. Mere peanuts. Has anyone ever bothered to investigate the overseas villas, the New York penthouses, and the yachts? How about the hidden billions? Nobody knows the full extent of the corruption and ethical malfeasance of this man and his gang.

Off to review the constitution du jour.

Don't believe it allows for a "substitute" pm?

Sec. 168

<talks about a pm vacating the office>

and the Permanent Secretaries shall elect one person among themselves to perform duties as Prime Minister.

Sounds ominous.

He's already shot himself in the foot a dozen times. Does he plan to aim higher?

I thought he was already up to his neck in the "brown stuff"!!

The only mishap and accident occurred at the Muppets birth.

If fat watch boy gets the job read the same.

Then who would substitute him? They’re all bent automatons. What Thailand needs is fresh, honourable blood like Thanathorn. Yeah, I know, but I can dream! ????

Thammanart and Prinn have all the right ethical qualifications to be substitute PM. They should arrange a Texas shoot out between the two of them.

Even more so, the real influencers at the top.

Never a mention.

It makes sense (a new PM now):

1. an election is looming, and

2. polling may show that Prayut is now too much on the nose,

... so maybe it is time to put a new wolf in the sheep's clothes, and hope they can pull off a hat-trick:

1. Coup,

2. Election win (with senate on-side),

3. Rinse and repeat No. 2

Which seems that most are oblivious of and the deeper schemes that have been prevalent forever.

Yet, we'll analyze, discuss and become caught up in the trivial factors of comparative PMs and governing bodies as if all was truly meaningful.

The theatre, and it's usual players, continues on without a glitch.

And we'll continue to go on about invented surface things that has nothing to do with anything.

It ain't rebellin' if you're buyin' what they're sellin'.

Prawit is getting impatient AND he knows where all the bodies are buried.

Taxi for Prayut or hearse if he's not quick enough by the sound of this ????

If #3 fails go to #1 and repeat ad nauseum.

"Political accident" is that a euphemism for "your eight years as PM are up"?

Substitute, your lies for fact

I see right through your plastic mac

(sorry, Pete)

Perfectly legit.

As we was the selected one.

Along with the appropriated blessings/permission.

That's how things have worked here forever.

We should be so lucky.

We can but hope.

Ain't nobody getting that job without a nod from on high.

We don't anticipate any change other than the retired high-ranking face lecturing from the podium.
